By the end of next year, downtown Brooklyn will have a new upscale steakhouse to rival Peter Luger in Williamsburg; it was recently announced that Morton’s will be occupying the ground floor of a new Marriott annex tower on Adams Street. The Chicago-based restaurant chain will dish out their beef, seafood and sandwiches in a 300 seat restaurant near the Brooklyn Bridge. Writing for the Brooklyn Paper, Gersh Kuntzman sees Morton’s arrival as the beginning......

Sometimes you need to clean yourself up, get serious, and move in with daddy for a few months before you head to Latin America for a new gig. The District bids Jenna Bush adios. D.C.-based television shows have an elderly audience and DCist has some suggestions to fix that. They're also throwing Butterstick the panda bear a birthday bash. Yeah, we may have a few issues with our World Cup broadcasters here, but this guy......

Name the two best players eligible for the upcoming NBA Draft. Maybe you like Tyrus Thomas or Adam Morrison? Well, the Knicks would have been in position to pick one of them after Tuesday’s draft lottery, but they traded that pick away last year to get Eddy Curry. The Chicago Bulls now get the chance to use the #2 overall pick on the player they want and also will have the option of swapping first......

This week is rife with comedy possibilities, thanks in part to the 7th Annual Del Close Marathon at the UCB Theatre. The festival is named for the guru-junkie-genius who helped found Chicago’s ImprovOlympic. If you want to put a face with the name, Close was also the teacher in Ferris Bueller who wasn't Ben Stein. The fest has grown in size and stature over the last 7 years and to accommodate there will be a......

It seems like not all is golden is Wonka-land. Everyone’s favorite confectionary madman spoke out against Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which he called a pointless money-making ploy. Gene Wilder told the UK Telegraph: "It's all about money. It's just some people sitting around thinking: 'How can we make some more money?' Why else would you remake Willy Wonka? I don't see the point of going back and doing it all over......

Los Angeles architect Thom Mayne has been awarded the Pritzker Prize, the highest honor in the field of architecture. Gothamist guesses that the awesome design for the Caltrans District 7 building in downtown L.A. tipped it in his favor this year (here's a profile of the building, see some work in progress photos here), but he's had a very storied career. As for Mayne's NYC projects, with his firm Morphosis, Mayne has designed the......

'Tis the season for presidential endorsements. The city's paper of record, The New York Times, bestowed an endorsement of Senator John Kerry for President yesterday, describing him as a man with a "strong moral core" and "not just a modest improvement on the incumbent," closing with: We look back on the past four years with hearts nearly breaking, both for the lives unnecessarily lost and for the opportunities so casually wasted. Time and again,......

Everybody was screaming, "I'm going to die" A summer Saturday night house party, who pauses to think whether the porch you're venturing out onto is safe enough? Over the weekend in Chicago, twelve people died and fifty seven others were injured when a porch in Lincoln Park collapsed. Investigators are looking to see is the 13'x20' porch was built properly, but speculation is that there were simply too many people on the three story porch......
