A drunk man driving a Lincoln Aviator slammed into people delivering groceries at restaurant on Seventh Avenue South near Grove Street yesterday morning. Antonio Barranco Hernandez, who had taken a delivery shift over from his son, died after the impact of the SUV severed his leg. A witness told the Daily News, "[The SUV] was going very fast. The car cut his leg. The leg, right off."

7:06PM First thoughts: Gael Garcia Bernal is so cute. Ryan Seacrest is an idiot, as are Joan and Melissa Rivers. But we want to know what Jennifer Lopez is wearing! (It turns out to be Marchesa.)

The Daily News received renderings of what Coney Island may look like, if developer Thor Equities has its way. Thinkwell Design & Production designed a 6-acre plan for "Coney Island Park." Thinkwell creative director Chris Durmick said, "Whatever you come looking for at Coney Island, it's all going to be there." What happens in Coney Island, stays in Coney Island?

If Cate Blanchett's Oscar-nominated performance as the incomparable Kate Hepburn in The Aviator had you hungering for some of that original patrician flavor, head to MoMA this weekend. The original "they hate-each-other, they-love-each-other" rom com with Hep and Trac as warring journalists, it's a must. Aren't journalists in the movies so sexy?

And The Aviator crew: What is it they say about the sum of the parts? You bore us with your "prestige picture with ensemble cast" glow. All the nominations bore us. Sure, there are interesting bits (the strong showing for Hotel Rwanda and Vera Drake; a screenplay nomination for Brad Bird and the Incredibles, Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and the Before Sunset team, though who knew that Ethan Hawke would ever get two, let alone one, nominations; nominations for Born Into Brothels and Super Size Me in the documentary category), but overall, meh. Where's Peter Sarsgaard for Kinsey?

The Sweet Smell of Success plays Friday and Saturday at the Film Forum at 1:35, 5:25, 9:15. Read Andrew Sarris's review of The Sweet Smell of Success; it's also a Great Movie according to Roger Ebert.

A NY director to look out for is Joshua Marston, whose Maria Full of Grace is one of the better films out there. And for a coastal flip (Gothamist getting ready for some sun, L.A. style), see Collateral for a swooning look at L.A. evening drive time.
