A 19-year-old Bronx teen is in critical condition after he was stabbed repeatedly during a subway fight over an iPhone early yesterday morning. Police have now arrested 22-year-old Victor Montalvo and 21-year-old Maritza Lopez in the stabbing of teen Alexander Herald; both have been charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and disorderly conduct. Tyree Wright, 19, has been arrested for the death of two-year-old Jacquil Degraffenreid—Wright is accused of repeatedly hitting him in the torso while the boy's mother was at work. According to the Post, conductor Thomas Christopher, 35, allegedly got into a verbal argument with the 18-year-old boy aboard the southbound R train as it traveled near the 36th Street station in Astoria around 3:50 a.m. today (DNAInfo claims the incident occurred around 11 p.m. last night). An 18-year-old Harlem teen was shot dead early Friday morning outside his girlfriend's birthday party by an alleged romantic rival. Walter Sumpter was found with a gunshot wound to the chest outside 254 W. 154th St. just after midnight Friday. The shooting took place outside his girlfriend's 17th birthday party at a local community center: “It all took place outside. The girl wasn’t there, but it looks like a friend of the gunman called him and told him [Sumpter] was there,” a source told the News. more ›

Jury Awards $1 Million To Family Of Teen Whose Brain Was Kept For Testing

A Staten Island family of a deceased teen has been awarded $1 million by a jury because of a morgue mess-up involving the teen's brain and other organ parts being kept for testing. In 2005, 17-year-old Jesse Shipley died in a car crash; though his family buried him, his brain was kept by the Medical Examiner and discovered in a jar two months later by his classmates on a school trip to the mortuary. "They were outraged that the medical examiner would take organs without telling a family member and hold them for a long time," the Shipleys' lawyer Anthony L. Galante told SILive, explaining the jury's decision. more ›

A Long Island teen attending college in Rhode Island has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty for allegedly killing a rabbit with a hockey stick and then using the carcass as a puck. Eric Greenidge, 18, is accused of firing several shots at rival gang members in a McDonalds parking lot in East New York Monday; officer Dawn Foster was hit in the crossfire, but survived. Timothy Taylor, who is not yet a licensed driver, had been "driving around the yard" of a residence in Arcadia around 7 a.m. on November 19th, lost control of the vehicle and crashed through a fence. He told officers he drank two cans of the controversial beverage a few hours before, and he now faces DWI charges.
