Yowza, that was quite a bit of rain that fell last night. Most sections of the city appear to have received two inches or more of rain. Around the region Yorktown Heights in Westchester County led the way with 4.64 inches. Another round of heavy rain is possible later in the week. First up though are a couple days of sunshine.
Plenty of Sun and Wind to Dry Soaked City
Uptown Groundhog Says Hello To Spring
Reader haj sent us this photograph of a groundhog greeting the gorgeous weather yesterday in Fort Tryon Park. Could this little fella be a relative of Staten Island Chuck? We don't really care—we'll just enjoy the sunshine while we can.
A Chill Wind Blows
Low to the north of us. A high to the south. Wind, wind in between. Until the pressure gradient lessens tonight the west wind will be blowing 20-25 mph with higher gusts. Combine that with the first day since early March in which the temperature probably won't reach the freezing mark and you've got a brisk December day.
Weekend Movie Forecast: Prince Caspian, Reprise, Yella
The imposing shadow of Indiana Jones looms, but this weekend belongs to Narnia, when C.S. Lewis’s second book in the series – Prince Caspian – finally gets the Hollywood treatment to accompany that epic Phish song. This installment has a lot more combat than The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, as well as the super-brilliant Peter Dinklage. The Voice’s Ella Taylor says it’s fun, you know, for kids, though adults may decide that, “other than the fights, everything else in the movie is equally bloodless.” Other reviews are generally favorable.
