Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the leading French politician accused of sexually assaulting a maid at a Times Square luxury hotel on Saturday, resigned from heading the International Monetary Fund. His statement read, "It is with infinite sadness that I feel compelled today to present to the Executive Board my resignation from my post of managing director of the I.M.F. I think at this time first of my wife — whom I love more than anything — of my children, of my family, of my friends," and pointedly included, "I want to say that I deny with the greatest possible firmness all of the allegations that have been made against me."

Chris Christie Will Either Commit Suicide or Run for President
'Tis the season for Republican presidential hopefuls to spuriously deny that they are interested in becoming the President of Losing to Obama in 2012. But no one can out-hyperbole New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who for the second time on Wednesday told journalists that "short of suicide, I don't really know what I'd have to do to convince you people that I'm not running. I'm not running." Someone should confiscate the Governor's Dashboard Confessional CDs.
SI Double Murder Suspect Put On Suicide Watch
After being arraigned on second degree murder charges for allegedly killing his parents, Staten Island resident Eric Bellucci was held without bail. Prosecutors pointed out that his trip to Israel—as the bodies were being found—and attempt to continue on to China made him a flight risk. The 30-year-old, described as a violent schizophrenic, was also put on suicide watch at the request of his lawyer, who said, "We're erring on the side of caution. It's an extremely tragic situation."
Craigslist Killer Suspect On Suicide Watch
Philip Markoff, the Boston University medical student suspected of killing a NYC woman at a Boston hotel, has been put on suicide watch. ABC News reports that prison officials apparently found shoelace marks around the 23-year-old's neck, "Markoff was moved from the general population of Boston's Nashua Street jail to a segregated unit where officers can keep a constant eye on him." In the meantime, the father of Markoff's fiancee Megan McAllister told reporters, "She's still confident in Phil. Other than that we’re saying a lot of prayers." Also: A Facebook page has been created: "Phil Markoff is Innocent Until Proven Guilty."
