How many killers have been using the brush by Gilgo Beach as a dumping ground? That is the question! At first folks assumed it was just one killer using the area until last May, when the Suffolk County DA and Police Commissioner came out together to say the bodies were the work of at least least two killers. Then Commissioner Richard Dormer, who retires at the end of the month, came out in November to say that actually there is just one killer. And now DA Thomas Spota is publicly calling BS on that, testifying at a county legislative hearing that he "very, very much disagree with that theory."
Nobody Can Agree On How Many LI Serial Killers There Are
LI Police Think They've Found Missing Prostitute Shannan Gilbert's Body
A year after the first three of ten bodies were found on Gilgo State Beach in Long Island police say they have found the remains of a woman they believe to be Shannan Gilbert, a sex worker whose disappearance in May 2010 led to the grisly revelation of a serial killer working on the island. The latest body was found about a quarter mile from where Gilbert's belongings were previously found. Full confirmation of the body's identity will come with after a forensic examination.
Police To Again Search Gilgo Beach For Missing Prostitute
Suffolk County police don't think that Shannan Gilbert—whose disappearance led to the discovery of ten bodies on Gilgo State Beach last year—was the victim of the Long Island serial killer. But that doesn't mean her body might still be on the beach (or in its brush), and they are now going to reopen the search for her.
Police: One Person Behind All 10 Gilgo Beach Murders
Just under a year after the first bodies of dead sex workers were found on Gilgo State Beach on Long Island the Suffolk County Police have still not found a killer. But they have finally decided to let us all know that—in a change of opinion—the 10 bodies found (eight woman, one toddler and one man in women's clothing) were most likely slain by one killer. "Serial killers evolve," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer said. "They don't necessarily do the same thing all the time. What's common here is the dumping ground, and the people who are victims: sex workers."
Cops: L.I. Mom Didn't Want To Give Up Crack Pipes
From Newsday: "With her 5-year-old and 4-month-old daughters nearby, an East Patchogue mother scuffled Saturday with a Suffolk police officer trying to seize crack pipes and hypodermic needles in her kitchen, Suffolk police said in announcing the woman's arrest on numerous criminal charges." Apparently she "jumped on his back and tried to deter him from taking possession."
