For four hours this morning, a protester sat atop the 70-foot orange sculpture on the southeast end of Zuccotti Park until police used a cherry picker to bring him down. According to NBC, the protester was Canadian citizen Dylan Farenhorst, who scaled Mark di Suvero's "Joie de Vivre" at 5 a.m. "He's making a point," one protester who met Farenhorst two days ago, and admitted that he was "not the sharpest knife in the drawer." Williamsburg Bridge Acrobats Invoke Philippe Petit Defense

Acrobat Seanna Sharpe and magician Thomas "Savage" Skinner performed a dangerous, risky stunt atop the Williamsburg Bridge last Monday evening, and were promptly arrested and charged with felony reckless endangerment. The couple now faces seven years in jail, but their attorney is invoking the case of Philippe Petit, the man who walked between the twin towers in 1974 and had his charges dropped, as precedent to set his clients free. "In the spirit of this great city, my hope is that the district attorney will look at it as the artistic act that it was," their lawyer Wylie Stecklow tells the Daily News. more ›

NYPD Protects NY Times Building From Climbers

After two incidents of X-treme attention whoring Thursday afternoon, cops were stationed around the perimeter of the New York Times building on 41st St. Friday, successfully preventing anyone else from taking a shot at scaling the side of the new skyscraper. Famous urban climber Alain Robert drew quite a crowd as he climbed up the side of the building around noon and then unfurled a banner decrying the human toll of global warming. The spectacle drew quite a police response and large crowds of spectators. Robert was released on bail shortly after being removed from the side of the building. more ›
