The Jets and the Giants took very different approaches to the draft on Saturday, but when the day was over, both had primarily upgraded their defenses. Five of the six selections made by the locals were defensive players and both teams hope they addressed some key needs.

Senator Hillary Clinton brought out a big gun in her fund-raising arsenal last night: President Bill Clinton, who introduced her last night, noting that they had met 36 years ago at Yale Law School. He said, "You will never find anybody who will do a better job of it than she will." It was their first major fund-raiser together, and tomorrow they'll be in DC for another event. About on million dollars was raised, with tickets ranging in price from $1,000 to $4,600 per person.

Obama held his first big NYC fundraiser last night, and its being feted as a blowout success-- more than a million dollars raised, and wild adoration from his legion of fans:

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, visited New York City yesterday. While the showiest part of their night may have been the presentation of a Global Environmental Citizen Award to the Prince from the Harvard Medical School's Center for Health and the Global Environment, we bet the most fun was had during the couple's visit the the Harlem Children's Zone. The Harlem Children's Zone, which includes the Promise Academy and other services and programs for the community, welcomed the royals with demonstration of an after-school investment program for kids, rehearsal of a scene from "A Midsummer's Night Dream" and a basketball scrimmage.

Ahhhh! It's Olympus Fashion Week and today, the designers from Project Runway showed their collections! Now, as we all know, all four designers from the Final Four - Jeffrey, Laura, Michael and Uli - get to present at Fashion Week, but one of the shows is a decoy, in order for people not to know who the true Final Three are. (Last year, Kara Janx presented at Fashion Week, though Daniel V., Chloe and Santino were the only ones really competing.)

Okay, we are admittedly not on the cutting edge of fashion or style, no matter how many 10 pound fashion magazines we read, no matter aware we are of the cool people we see around town, no matter how many episodes of America's Next Top Model we watch. But we just do not understand why the pretty models in Kimora Lee Simmons' Baby Phat show for Olympus Fashion Week had to wear teeth bling. Are braces cool again?

The evidence keeps piling up. Yesterday, Mount Sinai released a study showing that about 70% of Ground Zero workers have respiratory issues. The study was conducted amongst 9,442 workers who were at Ground Zero in the days after September 11, with the majority of them having "new or worsened chronic breathing conditions since responding to the attacks." Mount Sinai Medical Center's Dr. Robin Herbert said, ""There should no longer be any doubt about the health effects of the World Trade Center. Our patients are sick and are going to need health monitoring and treatment for the rest of their lives." Further, the head of Mount Sinai's community and preventive medicine Philip Landrigan said, "What these people inhaled was extremely toxic. It was pulverized dust. It was like Drano. It penetrated deep in the lungs, deep in the sinus cavities."
