Stephanie Adams—former Playboy Playmate, former lesbian, possible descendant of John Adams, astrologist, regular litigant, and much, much more—was awarded a massive $1.2 million payout from a jury yesterday for injuries she says she suffered after a 2006 incident with the police. That is $385,000 more than the former playmate's lawyer was looking for.

A former Playboy Playmate is suing the NYPD over a 2006 incident in which she alleges police used excessive force on her. Stephanie Adams, who was the first openly lesbian Playboy bunny in 1992, says cops drew their guns on her and "mashed" her face into the pavement after she got into an argument with a cab driver who falsely told the cops she had threatened to shoot him. “We’re very pleased she has her case before the jury,” said her lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein. “It’s been a long time coming.”

Self-styled "Playboy Centerfold & Celebrity Author" Stephanie Adams (left) and her lawyer Sanford Rubenstein held a press conference yesterday announcing her lawsuit against a taxi driver, the NYPD and the City of New York. Adams claims "that officers roughed her up based on the cabbie's false accusation that she was armed and dangerous." Maybe you remember? The city "had no immediate response" to the allegations. Cabby Eric Darko, who had his license suspended after he told a TLC "agency prober" that Adams "showed him her vampire teeth," told the AP he "didn't do nothing."
The Story of Mike The Butcher

Playmate and Commish's Cousin Accuse NYPD of Bad Behavior
It's two follow-ups in one: Two people have filed separate lawsuits against the NYPD for excessive police force. Playboy's Miss November 1992, Stephanie Adams, complained about the police treating her roughly last month, after an altercation with a cabby. Adams's cabby refused to drop her off outside her Chelsea apartment building, leading them to argue and each call the police. But the cabby claimed Adams had a gun (which she didn't), so when police arrived on the scene, they shoved her to the ground, with their guns aimed at her. Adams filed a notice of claim (the precursor to a lawsuit) against the NYPD, city, and the cops who mistreated her and is looking for $5 million in damages. She also added that the police leered at her while checking to see if she was packing heat. The police and cabby deny Adams's account, with cabby Eric Darko telling the Post he felt like his life was in danger, saying Adams threatened to shoot him. The Taxi and Limousine Commission is also looking into the matter.

The Post today has one of those great stories that isn't ever going to go anywhere but make fun reads anyway. How could you not be curious about a story involving the first openly gay Playboy Playmate, five leering police officers, a cabby imagining a gun and a dispute with the cabby over a $10.60 fare?
