It looks like Rosie O'Donnell is leaving daytime television yet again. No, it's not because of her attempts to speak Chinese, but because of contract issues. How mundane. TMZ first reported last night that O'Donnell, the co-host and moderator of ABC's morning talk-show, was set to announce her departure from the show. This morning, ABC News confirms the story in an "exclusive" (side note - shouldn't ABC break news about its own show before TMZ?).......

Holy home run. Or is that holy Star Jones-style chutzpah? A couple has managed to land about $80,000 worth of sponsorships for their wedding at a Brooklyn Cyclones home game. Flowers are covered by 1800Flowers, cake by Grandma's Secrets in Harlem, Diageo will create a special wedding drink, and more. Caroline Fisher, a radio station sales manager marrying marketing consultant Dave Kerpen, told Ad Age, "It was an idea that both met our needs......

If you have a weak stomach, feel free to move along. Star Jones allayed the fears of her numerous fans yesterday when she called into The View and told her co-hosts that she's doing OK. For those of you that don't know, Jones had a breast lift and implants on March 17th. The 44 year-old Jones said her "boobs think they're still 20." Excuse us while we wipe the vomit from our mouths. Since Star's......

This story shows the ingenuity and desperation of a small-time crook: The police arrested Gilbert Alicea for stealing cash from a church's donation box with a stick and double-sided tape. At St. Vincent Ferrer Church on the Upper East Side, Alicea would pretend to pray with a female accomplice, even chatting up priests, but then fished out money with his homemade stealing-money-from-a-church-collection-box gadget. Police from teh 19th Precinct were alerted by a church security guard,......

While the city has stepped in (sort of, as Curbed points out) to make sure jobs are saved during the renovation of the Plaza Hotel into a luxury apartment and boutique hotel, some people still not happy. Namely, the parents of Maria Hillman. Caren and Melvin Hillman are suing the Plaza and new owners Elad Properties for fraud and ruining their daughter's wedding dreams. They had booked the Plaza in July 2004 for a July......

You know it's the Oscars when P. Diddy busts out the velvet suit! Gothamist loves the Oscars, and we're going to attempt to do a little liveblogging. We might need to order a vat of caffeine and an EMT team at the ready; not because Chris Rock will be boring, but because we think that Gil Cates might kill us with his newfangled ideas and because we're meh about this year's nominees in the big......

Slate might have their Movie Club (which is a pretty awesome gathering of movie critics), but Gothamist is loving "The Conversation," a group blog between the creme de la creme of film/arts bloggers filmbrain, Liz Penn, greencine, the cinetrix and Aaron Dobbs (he does Gothamist Interviews with Lily Oei every few weeks). They are duking it out about this past year's movies, all the through Sunday, which is Golden Globes night. For example, from filmbrain:When......

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards their 62nd annual Golden Globes this Sunday, a sure sign that the season of gowns, the buzz and the surprise upset is upon us. Unlike the Oscars though, the Golden Globes covers television and film, so we get to see the disjointed mingling of the stars on the red carpet from both genres. Speaking of the red carpet, this year look out for the gossip and designer name dropping......

Gothamist attempted to real-time blog last night's 56th Annual Emmys. We survived, but we would like to say this: It was pretty boring. Sure, Garry Shandling can be funny, but we weren't that into it. Gothamist is certainly happy that Arrested Development made sure a great showing, as well as Angels in America, but it was also pretty boring - like the nominations themselves. But since we're a sucker for awards shows, we bring you......
