Bus Driver Bitten By Woman Hungry for Attention, Flesh

A veteran MTA driver who was bitten by a passenger on a crowded M104 bus in Manhattan yesterday afternoon was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital for tests after the incident. According to an MTA spokesman, Shelia Bolar, 49, "had given 42-year-old driver Peter Williams a problem on the bus. He got up to tell the dispatcher and when he rose from his seat the woman bit him." After sinking her teeth into Williams's forearm, Bolar ran south on Broadway before being arrested near West 73rd Street; she's charged with second-degree assault. The attack is reminiscent of last December's fatal stabbing of bus driver Edwin Thomas, which has prompted the MTA to test out new driver partitions on buses. Speaking to the Daily News about yesterday's mouthful, Bolar's neice says, "She's a little... She likes attention. She's going to do whatever's gonna get her the most attention."

Met Opera Singer's Son Stabbed to Death in Queens

The teenage son of a Metropolitan Opera singer was fatally stabbed a few blocks from Elmhurst Hospital in Queens on Monday night during a confrontation with a gang of ten thugs believed to part of the Latin Kings gang. Nicholas Donaldi-Subero, 18, had gone to Queens from his mother's Upper East Side apartment to pick up his date; around 6 p.m.—about a block away from the 82nd Street-Jackson Heights 7 station—he was approached by the teen gang, who believed him responsible for a recent stabbing of one of their own. Donaldi-Subero's family deny it, but police say he was a member of rival gang, ABK, Always Banging Kings, and he was arrested three times in the past six months. His mother, alto Maria Donaldi, tells the Daily News, "he was the sweetest kid. I don't know about gang affiliation. Kids can be sneaky, but I'm the last to know."

An unidentified mugger got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob 77-year-old Barbara Mirbt outside her E. 83rd St. home Wednesday night. Mirbt is a tough cookie who survived the World War II bombing of Berlin, so when the thug told her to give up her bag or be stabbed, she wasn't ascared. She tells the Daily News that she fought back, even after the mugger stabbed her wrist with an pocketknife, saying 'I'm going to stab you more." Which he did, finally wresting away the bag, containing $1,500 for a sick friend. But Mirbt wasn't going to give up that easy, and she tried to chase her assailant, "blood leaking through her blouse." Yeah, you better run, punk! A neighbor muses, "I guess Barbara was feeling feisty." She was released from the hospital the next day; the mugger is still on the run from Mirbt.

The ex-girlfriend of a 49-year-old Bronx woman is suspected of murdering her former lesbian companion after the victim was found stabbed to death in her bathtub. Cecelia Rodriguez had recently been kicked out of the pair's Bronx apartment after the breakup, but reportedly was distraught when she heard the news of Olga Rodriguez's death. The landlord who discovered Rodriguez's body was skeptical of the histrionics. "She was acting-crying. The crying was not real. "[The victim] was always complaining about her."
