Landlord Allegedly Put Video Cameras In Tenant's Apartment

An East Patchogue, Long Island landlord was arrested when a video camera was found in a tenant's apartment. WCBS 2 reports, "A 16-year-old teen who lives in the apartment with her parents found the camera and called police...[She] told her father she noticed her room on a monitor in her landlord's apartment, and when she looked further, she found the camera in her ceiling." A video camera was also found in the bathroom. Louis Bosco, a "self-employed handyman," was charged with unlawful surveillance. The teen's father said, "It doesn't feel very good. It feels like you want to hurt him. I really would like to go over there and kill him. I know I shouldn't say that but I really want to hurt this guy." more ›

Perv Implicates Self in Starbucks Bathroom Spycam

New Paltz police are looking for a man who planted a spy camera on the floor of a Starbucks unisex bathroom. They have a great description of him—according to WCBS 2, he's "6-feet tall, 35 to 40 years of age, dark hair, bearded, with a mustache, horn rimmed glasses and a ponytail halfway down his back"—because he while installing the camera. Lieutenant Steve Osarczuk, who explained the spycam was planted "to capture people in a private moment of a sexual nature," enjoyed the irony, "I think its absolutely beautiful. The footage that he wanted to get to hurt somebody else is now in our hands and we can use it to hurt him." Landlord Arrested For Putting Cameras in Smoke Detectors

Yikes: Newsday reports that two Hofstra students found spy cameras hidden in smoke detectors in their Franklin Square apartment. The tenants had asked a friend to check the detectors, which were found to be non-working. "The friend brought one of the detectors to a local firehouse, where a volunteer firefighter realized 'the guts were removed from that smoke detector and in its place was a digital video camera and some sort of a transmitter.'" Nassau police arrested the landlord Michael Murartore, who claimed he just wanted to make sure his apartment wasn't being damaged, but the cops told Newsday, "It's against the law to do that. It's kind of obvious." more ›
