We were really hoping Trump would lose this match, which would have resulted in the long-awaited end to his haircut. Since his hair is something we could never imagine him giving up, it's not impossible that the match was rigged. Either way, he won and got to shave the head of another rich guy, World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon.

The Final List Is Revealed
Over the weekend on NBC and last night on MSG, the final five moments of the “50 Greatest Moments on MSG” were shown. Spoiler Alert, don’t keep reading if you don’t want to know about this yet.
De Bricassart, D'Brickashaw
At Gothamist, we've been a little obsessed with D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the UVA offensive tackle who the NY Jets may be considering for their first round draft pick in the fourth slot. (The Jets may also be considering defensive end Mario Williams from NC State, or the Jets may trade down - basically, they might do anything.) Why are we obsessed? Because D'Brickashaw suddenly becomes an awesome nickname for anyone or anything. And we were tickled to learn that its origins are from The Thorn Birds - as in Father Ralph de Bricassart. While the book was published in 1978, it got the 10-hour ABC miniseries treatment in 1983, which is the year Ferguson was born. Coincidentally, Ferguson is a religious studies major!
The Marathon is Coming! The Marathon is Coming!
Tomorrow, in case you had forgotten, is the ING New York City Marathon. And considering that the forecast is for a beautiful, slightly overcast, day in the high 60s, we fully expect you to go out and cheer on the runners (or, if that isn't your thing, at least know where the whole thing is so you can avoid it). Hence the map to your left. Can't read it clearly enough? Download the pdf. Don't like that map? The marathon website has plenty of different ways for you to figure out where the runners will be.
Is New York Not Big Enough?
Gothamist was a little upset today when we opened our New York Times to see sumo wrestlers. No, we weren't upset with their massive bellies, but with the fact that they were in Las Vegas and not here in New York. It was the first time the Grand Sumo Championships were staged in the US in 20 years. The Times reports over 25,000 fans took in the three day competition, but we think New York could do better. Why not have them compete in the "world's most famous arena," where American wrestling legends like the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan "competed."
Help Wanted - Inquire Within
Here at Gothamist Sports, we're looking for another person to join our "team". We would like someone who loves football and could ideally write 4 entries a week on the Jets and Giants. The job is unpaid, but you would get to have your name all over your column and a bio - sounds great, no?

Welcome to Gothamist Sports
As most of you may have read, today is the launch of Gothamist Sports. We are going to cover some of the local sports news as well as some other events in the sporting world outside the New York Area. We also hope to provide some information on recreational sports activities in New York. The site has been in beta for two weeks and Kyle has already gathered some information about summer leagues at Chelsea Piers.
A Slow Sports Weekend
This weekend looks to be a rather boring for the New York region. The Mets and Yankees are both out of town playing teams in Florida. There is no hockey, no baketball, no nothing. George Vecsey pointed this travesty out yesterday and Gothamist couldn't agree more. When was the last time there were no local sports this weekend? What happened to seeing scores of Navy men and women in the stands of Shea or Yankee Stadium? Fleet week just doesn't seem right without that picture.
Break Out the Ben Gay
In the cases of Clemens, Johnson, and Bonds, their rigorous workout regimens have helped them age better. Gothamist still sticks with our last entry on this subject, when we thought that if you can still play, you should. It's the people that aren't as good that should retire. You hear that JoePa?
How Old is Too Old?
We don't want to be agiest, but there has to be a time when you hang it up. If you're playing well, as in Clemens's case, by all means, keep playing if it's going to make you happy. But if you're just coaching away and not really performing to expectations, isn't it time to retire? We know that many Nitanny Lions fans want JoPa to retire so the program can move into the next era. This may sound unreasonable, but Paterno's teams haven't played up to expectations, going 22-26 since 1999. Sure, it will be difficult for Penn State to move on when Paterno leaves, after all, he's been the head coach for 38 seasons, but sooner has got to be better than later.
