As everyone is pointing out today, that's $2,000 more than the school gave Toni Morrison for her commencement speech later this year. However, this booking was made by a student-run committee, using the mandatory student activity fees undergraduates must pay with their tuition. But still!

After Re-Election As Speaker, Quinn Demotes Her Rival
Just weeks after trouncing Councilman Charles Barron (D-East New York) to be re-elected as Council Speaker, Councilwoman Christine Quinn (D-Chelsea) stripped Barron of his position chairing the Higher Education Committee. In a near repeat of the 48-1 vote in the Speaker race, the Council voted 47-1 to demote Barron. In both instances, Barron cast the only vote in his favor.

Embattled City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has decided to proceed through the ongoing city slush fund scandal with the guidance of a defense attorney. Federal and City investigators are looking into the allocation of millions of dollars of budget money to fictional organizations. That money was then funneled to private groups, who often kicked back funds in the form of campaign contributions.
