It's been something like 9 years since the last time Faithless played in New York. Considering that the band is one of the largest in England and the rest of the world, selling out soccer stadiums and headlining major music festivals year after year, their return to the States is a pretty big deal. Hitting a couple club dates on their way to Coachella, they stopped by Webster Hall earlier in the week and completely blew the roof off the place. Read more at Music Snobbery. When the band plays Sydney, Kapranos eats chilli crab; back in Scotland, it’s a cheese and chutney plate at a bookstore café. “Food is an adventure” is his Sound Bites mantra, and otherwise the book is filled with understated and disarming truths about dining, like how good company sometimes trumps bad shellfish, and how some people continually search to rediscover to relive the particulars of their first food memories. Gothamist started talking to Alex Kapranos about the parallel orbits of rock stars and chefs, and ended up with a mutton meatball recipe.

January 25: Beer & Cheese Pairing Affair

Wow. Last night's Gothamist-Slice Pizza Party was awesome. For those of you that came out last night, we hope you had as much fun that we did. A big thank you to Fornino, Michael Ayoub and his wonderful staff that helped make the night so fun (and tasty). At the end of the night, Ayoub told Gothamist and Adam from Slice that they made over 200 pies, running through almost all the dough they had. In addition to the great pizza, there was a mozzarella demonstration, with some delicious samples, and a nice spumoni desert which was a perfect finish to the night.
