Show biz is big biz in NYC these days, according to a study by the Boston Consulting Group, which says the film and television industry generated $7.1 billion dollars in revenue for New York City last year, an increase of over $2 billion dollars annually since 2002. An estimated 130,000 people are employed by film and TV productions in the city, an increase of 30,000 jobs since 2004. Which we guess makes up for that one time a production assistant made us wait to cross the street.

Tanorexic Mom Likes SNL Spoof But Wishes Media Would Pay Attention To Cuba
The NJ mom who has captivated the country with her pre-cancerous skin condition, Patricia Krentcil, was in good spirits about Saturday Night Live's spoof. She told the Post, "It was well done... the whole thing was hysterical."
Videos: On SNL, Eli Manning Tebows, Occupies Wall Street, And Wears Drag
Giants quarterback Eli Manning took to Saturday Night Live to mock his New York credentials, as well as rival quarterback Tim Tebow and big brother Peyton Manning. Manning acquitted himself admirably, and the sketches, on the whole, were pretty good, though writers did put Manning in drag (that's a go-to for athletes who host).
Let's Spend Saturday Night Together: Mick Jagger Hosting Season Finale Of SNL
It was just announced that Rolling Stones frontman and "tiny todger" Mick Jagger will pull double duty as host and musical guest for the season finale of SNL. Because when he can't get the likes of Mitt Romney or One Direction, sometimes Lorne Michaels has to turn to some old reliables. But hey, if this means we might get a sequel to the classic Mick Jagger/Jimmy Fallon mirror scene, all the better.
Horatio Sanz Returns As Vigilante Crime Fighter in ESPANTO Web Series
We haven't seen much of former Saturday Night Live star Horatio Sanz since Lorne Michaels & Co. gave him the axe in 2006. After laying his impressions of Rubeus Hagrid and Saddam Hussein to rest, Sanz dropped about 100 lbs and made some sporadic SNL cameos, returning to reprise his rendition of "I Wish It Was Christmas Today" with Jimmy Fallon, Tracy Morgan and Chris Kattan when Fallon hosted last December. But it looks like Sanz is returning to his sketch comedy roots; he recently teamed up with Upright Citizens Brigade director Todd Bieber in creating a new web series on UCBComedy's YouTube channel.
Mitt "Showtime" Romney Reportedly Mulling Offer To Host Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live has had some serious problems trying to make presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney funny—after all, he has the personality of a saltine cracker in a glass of room-temperature water. So SNL has decided to go straight to the source: executive producer Lorne Michaels told the Times that he has offered Romney the hosting gig on SNL, and Romney is considering it. Because Romney has such a deft hand with comedy.
Videos: Josh Brolin's Goatee, Gotye And Laser Cats-Lovin' Steven Spielberg On Saturday Night Live
Josh Brolin, best known to many as Brand from The Goonies, made his second hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live, but he was nearly eclipsed by Australian singer Gotye, who not only sang two songs, but also was the subject of an obsessive second Digital Short. But the first Digital Short was pretty great: Laser Cats, as directed by... Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg.
Videos: SNL Extra Sexy With Sofia Vergara And Tween Sensations One Direction
Sofia Vergara hosted the first new Saturday Night Live in three weeks, amid rumors that three cast members (Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis) might depart the show. Well, if it means getting rid of Gilly, we could probably live with it—but Sudeikis's Mitt Romney impression is getting better and Wiig makes a great Ann!
Wiig, Sudeikis AND Samberg All Rumored To Be Leaving SNL
According to a couple of sources that spoke to Us Weekly, Saturday Night Live is about to lose some major players. Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are all rumored to be leaving at the end of the season—an insider told them, "It will be a huge blow to the show." But really... it's about time, no? Wiig is too big for the show now post-Bridesmaids, Sudeikis has been doing just fine outside of studio 8H, and Andy Samberg has been there since the beginning of time! We will miss Samberg's Digital Shorts... but we're not really going to miss Wiig's Gilly character.
Will Ferrell Tells Us He Dreams In Spanish, Enjoys Old Milwaukee By The Case
Will Ferrell hardly needs an introduction. Last year he won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor for his "impact on American society in ways similar to the distinguished 19th century novelist," which is to say he can pull off a heartwarming performance as an innocent elf as well as a boorish fraternity has-been, all while influencing the American electorate and cracking up his colleagues on SNL.
Videos: Oscar-Nominee Jonah Hill Gets Immature On SNL
Jonah Hill—Oscar-nominated actor—hosted Saturday Night Live last night for the second time, and he addressed his good fortune during his monologue. And actual Oscar winner and eight-time SNL host Tom Hanks stopped by to explain how tough life was after winning. Twice.
Where Was Tina Fey For Lindsay Lohan's Big SNL Return?
Plenty of cameos were made the night Lindsay Lohan returned to the Saturday Night Live stage for the fourth time, but one time SNL cast member and Lohan-cheerleader was notably absent: Tina Fey.
Videos: Lindsay Lohan Tries To Scare SNL Viewers Straight
Lindsay Lohan made her ballyhooed return to Saturday Night Live, and while it wasn't a great episode, it wasn't January Jones-bad. Lohan did make light of her legal problems during the monologue (but didn't sing)—Kenan Thompson shined a flashlight in her eyes while Kristen Wiig frisked her: Lohan asked if she was being searched and Wiig replied, “No, I’m a lesbian now," to which Lohan joked, "Been there, done that." Then, Jimmy Fallon came by and revealed that Jon Hamm was ready—and in the audience—to take over as host if things went downhill.
Lindsay Lohan Will Reportedly Sing During SNL Monologue
Tragic trainwreck Lindsay Lohan will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the fourth (fourth!) time tonight. According to TMZ's sources, "the actress plans to SING the majority of her opening monologue on the sketch show. Sources tell TMZ, nothing's off the table either—Lindsay will poke fun at all the recent mishaps in her life ... arrests, endless court dates, necklace-stealing sagas, jail, morgue duty ... the list goes on."
Let's Play: What's Up With Linsday Lohan's Face In This SNL Promo?
Lindsay Lohan is returning to Saturday Night Live this weekend for her fourth time—even though there are so many other more worthy hosts out there—which means she's been busy at rehearsals and filming promos this week. You can watch the promos below, where it's no surprise that she's making an attempt to parlay her trainwreck years (2006 to present) into "comedy." It's really all she's got at this point! But can we all agree that it's just not funny, nor is whatever she has gone and done to her face? Also, stop trying to make "Lindsanity" happen
7 People We'd Rather See Host SNL Over Lindsay Lohan
On March 3rd, Lindsay Lohan will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the fourth time, which is three too many times for Lindsay Lohan to host Saturday Night Live (we will reserve one time for Parent Trap-era Lohan, who showed so much promise). Someone made this above bar graph, which got us to thinking: who should host the legendary show? We happen to agree that Aziz Ansari belongs on the stage, and he's #1 on our list, the rest of our picks follow in no particular order.
Videos: SNL Goes Blue Ivy, With Maya Rudolph As Beyonce, Justin Timberlake As Bon Iver
Maya Rudolph returned to Saturday Night Live as host last night, and tackled a larger-than-life female music superstar. No, she didn't play Whitney Houston, but she did spoof Beyonce in a sketch about the Most Important Baby In The Whole World, Blue Ivy Carter. With Rudolph as Bey and Jay Pharoah at Jay-Z, the happy parents greeted a bevy of celebrities, from Prince (Fred Armisen) to Nicki Minaj (Nasim Pedrad), from Taylor Swift (Kristen Wiig) to Bon Iver (Justin Timberlake).
Video: ESPN's Linsanely Stupid "Chink In Armor" Headline Gets Criticized, Mocked By SNL
[UPDATE BELOW] Yesterday, ESPN offended a whole lot of people when they published the linsanely racist headline "Chink In The Armor" in reference to Knicks star Jeremy Lin's performance against the New Orleans Hornets Friday night. ESPN has since apologized for the "mistake," but many—including the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA)—were less than impressed with their mea culpa. And Saturday Night Live picked up on the controversy in their cold open last night, mercilessly drudging up every terrible Lin pun imaginable.
Videos: Early Whitney Houston, From Merv Griffin To SNL
Over the weekend, Oprah Tweeted: "To me Whitney was THE VOICE. We got to hear a part of God every time she sang." Sadly, that voice became muddled in the last years of Whitney Houston's life, but let's take a look back to her earlier years. All of the below videos are 100% guaranteed to give you goose bumps, from a 1976 recording of her singing at her Newark church, to the best "Star Spangled Banner" the country will ever hear:
Videos: Channing Tatum Repeatedly Shows Chest On SNL
If your past as a male stripper is more famous than your previous movies, than obviously Saturday Night Live will milk that for all it's worth. Last night's host Channing Tatum (yes, you can watch his striptease here) acknowledged his exotic dancer experiences in the monologue— and proceeded to show off his chiseled chest in that bit as well as a few other sketches. Highlights included a cold open featured Newt Gingrich as Moon President, Weekend Update's take on Lana Del Ray's performance a few weeks ago, Bobby Moynihan's Guy Fieri impression, Tom Brady at a Ruby Tuesday's and a killer Spike TV commercial for... Downton Abbey. And Bon Iver performed!

According to TMZ, Bodolai—who co-wrote the Wayne's World movie—had been staying at the hotel for over a week, and cleaning crews discovered his body yesterday. The site learned that police found a bottle of antifreeze and Gatorade in his room.
Videos: SNL Weekend Update Joke-Off With Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler And Seth Meyers
Jimmy Fallon's first stint as an Saturday Night Live host meant many veteran SNL performers showed up for the last show of 2011. Rachel Dratch was Denise to Fallon's Sully in the cold open; Amy Poehler showed up, too; Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan and a svelte Hortaio Sanz performed a song with Fallon; and, in the highlight, Fallon and his Weekend Update co-host Tina Fey had a joke-off with current Update host Seth Meyers and Poehler.
Video: SNL Cast Members Recreate Robyn Video At 4:30 AM
Over the weekend Robyn rocked Saturday Night Live with her tall shoes and dance moves, but a few days before her performance, some SNL cast members recreated her video for "Call Your Girlfriend." Below, watch Taran Killam's rendition, which took place at 4:30 a.m. while on a writing break, and with assists from Vanessa Bayer, Abby Elliott, Bobby Moynihan, and Sarah Schneider.
Videos: Alec Baldwin Uses SNL To Promote His Bad Airline Behavior
Katy Perry returned to Saturday Night Live, this time as the host (she was memorable in a skit last year), but it seems her evening was upstaged by the attention-starved 30 Rock star, Alec Baldwin. Baldwin, who amused the nation this week when he was kicked off a plane for being rude to the crew who wanted him to stop playing with his cellphone, appeared on Weekend Update as airline pilot "Steve Rogers" and issued his sincerest apologies to Baldwin, "Mr. Baldwin is an American treasure and I am ashamed of the way he was treated."
Did Kristin Wiig Make Out With That Guy From The Strokes At A Black Keys Show?
Burning questions on a rainy Hump Day: could this bit of trivial gossip somehow, actually, possibly, be true? And if it is, can we start taking bets on how long it will last? Page Six is reporting that funny lady Kristin Wiig and Fabrizio Moretti, aka that guy from The Strokes who dated Drew Barrymore, were "literally on top of each other," at a Black Keys (of course!) release party this week at the W Union Square club Lilium. Not figuratively!
Videos: Steve Buscemi Works The Creepy On Saturday Night Live
Steve Buscemi, the beloved character actor who has gone from "funny-looking" to the Golden Globe-winning lead in Boardwalk Empire, hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time last night. And he used his unconventional looks to play a sports coach who shockingly is NOT molesting his players, and Miley Cyrus's pal from Burning Man—plus he gave advice to other character actors trying to break out.
Jason Segel Reminds Us Of The More Adult Muppets That Used To Be On SNL
Jason Segel, who has a little movie called The Muppets coming out this week, just talked extensively about his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live, also offering up this cute anecdote to Moviefone—his list of goals that he made when he was a kid had three things on it: to be on Letterman, to work with the Muppets, and to host SNL. He told them, "I did all three last week. In one week! That's not hyperbole, that's an actual list I had."
Katy Perry And Robyn Taking Over SNL On December 10th!
Attention girl pop fans: NBC just announced that Katy Perry and Robyn will be taking over Saturday Night Live on December 10th, noting that Perry will host, and Robyn will be the musical guest (though undoubtedly she'll appear in a sketch or at least the Digital Short)—the pairing makes sense as the two were tour mates earlier this year.
