If your past as a male stripper is more famous than your previous movies, than obviously Saturday Night Live will milk that for all it's worth. Last night's host Channing Tatum (yes, you can watch his striptease here) acknowledged his exotic dancer experiences in the monologue— and proceeded to show off his chiseled chest in that bit as well as a few other sketches. Highlights included a cold open featured Newt Gingrich as Moon President, Weekend Update's take on Lana Del Ray's performance a few weeks ago, Bobby Moynihan's Guy Fieri impression, Tom Brady at a Ruby Tuesday's and a killer Spike TV commercial for... Downton Abbey. And Bon Iver performed!

Former Saturday Night Live writer and Kids in the Hall producer, 63-year-old Joe Bodolai, died in a Los Angeles hotel room sometime over the last couple of days, and police believe the death was a suicide. According to TMZ, Bodolai—who co-wrote the Wayne's World movie—had been staying at the hotel for over a week, and cleaning crews discovered his body yesterday. The site learned that police found a bottle of antifreeze and Gatorade in his room.
Videos: SNL Weekend Update Joke-Off With Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler And Seth Meyers
Jimmy Fallon's first stint as an Saturday Night Live host meant many veteran SNL performers showed up for the last show of 2011. Rachel Dratch was Denise to Fallon's Sully in the cold open; Amy Poehler showed up, too; Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan and a svelte Hortaio Sanz performed a song with Fallon; and, in the highlight, Fallon and his Weekend Update co-host Tina Fey had a joke-off with current Update host Seth Meyers and Poehler.
Video: SNL Cast Members Recreate Robyn Video At 4:30 AM
Over the weekend Robyn rocked Saturday Night Live with her tall shoes and dance moves, but a few days before her performance, some SNL cast members recreated her video for "Call Your Girlfriend." Below, watch Taran Killam's rendition, which took place at 4:30 a.m. while on a writing break, and with assists from Vanessa Bayer, Abby Elliott, Bobby Moynihan, and Sarah Schneider.
Videos: Alec Baldwin Uses SNL To Promote His Bad Airline Behavior
Katy Perry returned to Saturday Night Live, this time as the host (she was memorable in a skit last year), but it seems her evening was upstaged by the attention-starved 30 Rock star, Alec Baldwin. Baldwin, who amused the nation this week when he was kicked off a plane for being rude to the crew who wanted him to stop playing with his cellphone, appeared on Weekend Update as airline pilot "Steve Rogers" and issued his sincerest apologies to Baldwin, "Mr. Baldwin is an American treasure and I am ashamed of the way he was treated."
Did Kristin Wiig Make Out With That Guy From The Strokes At A Black Keys Show?
Burning questions on a rainy Hump Day: could this bit of trivial gossip somehow, actually, possibly, be true? And if it is, can we start taking bets on how long it will last? Page Six is reporting that funny lady Kristin Wiig and Fabrizio Moretti, aka that guy from The Strokes who dated Drew Barrymore, were "literally on top of each other," at a Black Keys (of course!) release party this week at the W Union Square club Lilium. Not figuratively!
Videos: Steve Buscemi Works The Creepy On Saturday Night Live
Steve Buscemi, the beloved character actor who has gone from "funny-looking" to the Golden Globe-winning lead in Boardwalk Empire, hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time last night. And he used his unconventional looks to play a sports coach who shockingly is NOT molesting his players, and Miley Cyrus's pal from Burning Man—plus he gave advice to other character actors trying to break out.
Jason Segel Reminds Us Of The More Adult Muppets That Used To Be On SNL
Jason Segel, who has a little movie called The Muppets coming out this week, just talked extensively about his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live, also offering up this cute anecdote to Moviefone—his list of goals that he made when he was a kid had three things on it: to be on Letterman, to work with the Muppets, and to host SNL. He told them, "I did all three last week. In one week! That's not hyperbole, that's an actual list I had."
Katy Perry And Robyn Taking Over SNL On December 10th!
Attention girl pop fans: NBC just announced that Katy Perry and Robyn will be taking over Saturday Night Live on December 10th, noting that Perry will host, and Robyn will be the musical guest (though undoubtedly she'll appear in a sketch or at least the Digital Short)—the pairing makes sense as the two were tour mates earlier this year.
Videos: Emma Stone Hosts SNL, Calls Mary Jane Watson A "Skank"
Last night, rising starlet Emma Stone hosted Saturday Night Live for a second time since 2010 (flashback: when Jimmy McMillan was the hot news figure). She mentioned her upcoming role as Gwen Stacy in the new Spider-Man reboot, adding, "Not to be confused with Spider-Man’s other girlfriend Mary Jane Watson, who is a skank and doesn’t love him like I do."
Videos: SNL Features Gadhafi's Ghost, Kardashian Divorce, And A Crime Scene About Nothing
After a three-week break, Saturday Night Live made up for lost ground by starting things off with a visit from the ghost of Moammer Gadhafi, who confirmed, "I got murdered pretty bad last week." The show also took aim at Kim Kardashian's short-lived, televised marriage with Nasim Pedrad's dead-on impression, "Things are looking up for me. I'm single, and there's an NBA lock-out."
Eddie Murphy Says He's Over His SNL Grudge, Is Only Doing "Edgy" Stuff Now
Eddie Murphy, who you've been desperately trying to avoid in theaters for the past few years, is really pushing hard to keep some of the positive momentum he has going from that whole "I'm hosting the Oscars" thing from a few weeks back. This week, he landed a sweet spot on the cover of Rolling Stone, where he drops some amazing tidbits on an unsuspecting public.
Former SNL Star Darrell Hammond Did A Lot Of Drugs, Cut Himself
In his hilariously-covered new memoir, former SNL comedian Darrell Hammond admits to heavy drinking, drug use, and even of practicing forms of self-harm during his tenure there. According to the Post, Hammond engaged in the behavior to escape painful childhood memories. "I kept a pint of Remy in my desk at work. The drinking calmed my nerves and quieted the disturbing images that sprang into my head
when drinking didn't work, I cut myself," Hammond writes.
Happy Birthday, Saturday Night Live—Party On!
The first ever episode of Saturday Night Live aired on this date, back in 1975—so it's time to say Happy Birthday to Lorne Michaels & Co. (may we suggest some Schweddy Balls?). Recently, we revisited the early days with these audition tapes, and below, you can check out scenes from Season 1. Here is host George Carlin's opening monologue from the first night, which he begins, "Thank you! Talk about a live show! It's nice to see you, welcome, and thanks for joining us—live. Um.. I'm kinda glad that we're on at night, so that we're not competing with all the football and baseball. So many, man.. And this is the time of year when there's both, you know?"
And Your Next Three SNL Hosts Are...
Since Alec Baldwin can't host Saturday Night Live forever, and Radiohead can't always be the musical guest, it's time to move on. This week it was announced that Ben Stiller will be hosting on October 8th, with musical guest Foster The People. And following his stint, on October 15th, Anna Faris and Drake will be taking over the studio. Stiller was a cast member in the 80s, and hosted last in 1998; Faris hosted one other time, in 2008.
Videos: Alec Baldwin Sets Hosting Record On SNL Premiere
Last night was the much anticipated 37th season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Future mayor Alec Baldwin hosted for a record 16th time, breaking a tie with Steve Martin—Martin made a guest appearance during the monologue to make sure Baldwin wasn't using any performing-enhancing drugs (Seth Rogen was also there...for no particular reason). Baldwin, who addressed the Schweddy Balls controversy at one point as well, unloaded some fantastic impressions throughout the night, including his versions of Al Pacino, Tony Bennett, and Rick Perry.
Ben & Jerry's Confirms "Schweddy Balls" Ice Cream Release
Earlier this summer, we fired up the rumor mill by hinting, hoping, and praying that Ben & Jerry's was developing a special-edition "Schweddy Balls"-flavored ice cream. Today, the world's prayers have been answered: it's happening!
You Have Less Than Two Weeks To Email For SNL Tickets
With future Mayor Alec Baldwin and merry dancers Radiohead scheduled to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on September 24, we're actually excited about SNL for once! We even kind of wouldn't mind seeing it in person...except that it's notoriously tough getting tickets (especially when one works on Saturdays), with the 7 a.m. lines and all. However, there's a little loophole that can possibly save us (and you) an early morning wake up.
Radiohead To Be Musical Guest On SNL Premiere... Shows To Follow?
It was just announced that Radiohead will be the musical guests on the September 24th season premiere of Saturday Night Live! Mayor-in-training Alec Baldwin will be the guest host, making for the show's best lineup in years. This will be Radiohead's second time on SNL; the first came in 2000, promoting Kid A, when they performed blistering versions of "The National Anthem" and "Idioteque," during which Thom Yorke unleashed his now-classic spastic-sexy dance moves for the world. (Watch "Idioteque" below.)
Alec Baldwin Will Host SNL For 16th Time, May Leave 30 Rock Next Year
Proving that New Yorkers and indeed the country has an unslakable thirst for the second-best Baldwin (our heart belongs to Billy), eldest brother Alec will be hosting SNL for a record 16th time for the show's 37th season premiere this fall. The news comes on the heels of Baldwin's rumored departure from NBC's 30 Rock after next year. Executive producer for 30 Rock and SNL Lorne Michaels tells the Times “I would hope he would want to go on, but we’re going to keep doing the show." And Stephen would be a seamless replacement!
Head To Atlantic City For The World's Saddest SNL Reunion
Have you spent the past decade wondering whatever became of Sinatra-loving former SNL-er Joe Piscopo? No? What about ukelele-playing-SNLer-turned-Obama-citizenship-conspiracy-theorist Victoria Jackson? Not her either? Well, tough bananas! Because the two of them are teaming up for what is surely the saddest pseudo-SNL reunion show ever.
FDNY Rescues Jeopardy Whiz & Circus Clown Friend From Apartment Blaze
Successful Jeopardy contestant Brian Levinson and his circus clown friend Eric Broomfield were rescued from their burning Queens apartment by the FDNY early Saturday morning. 33-year-old Levinson, who won $73K in prize money from Jeopardy in 2008 and has appeared on the game show Cash Cab, retained burns to 12% of his body, including his face, head, and arms. Firefighters helped Levinson out of the building, while Broomfield had to be carried out. "I found him in the bathroom," Ladder 163 Captain Jim Hay tells the Daily News, "It was heavy smoke condition. He couldn't get past the fire."
Timberlake And Gaga May Be Teaming Up For SNL Finale
It's been (somewhat awkwardly) announced that Justin Timberlake will be hosting the season finale of Saturday Night Live this year. He'll be closing out the 36th season on May 21st, according to a Tweet from the show that has now been deleted! According to HuffPo, it went something like this: When a Twitter follower wrote, "I didn’t realize that @nbcsnl isn’t back until May 7th!!! What am I going to do!? Is Tina Fey the season finale!?" the show responded, "Nope! We have Timberlake after that!"
Videos: Helen Mirren's Boobs Take Center Stage On SNL
Dame Helen Mirren may have won an Oscar for playing a rather dowdy Queen Elizabeth in The Queen, but on Saturday Night Live, her babe-ness was emphasized. Much was made of the 65-year-old's breasts, including a Digital Short about their magical powers. Click through the photos for videos of last night's sketches, including a spoof of Fox & Friends, a look at Mary Shelley's landlord Frank Stein, and a Crunk-Ass Easter Festival, as well as musical performances from the Foo Fighters.
Video: Elton John Hosts, Sings On SNL, With Guests Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllenhaal, Carmelo Anthony
Last night, Sir Elton John hosted Saturday Night Live, while also taking a turn as the musical guest with Leon Russell (who was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). He made jokes about being gay, being a new father, and his past troubles with alcoholism during his monologue ("So far the baby really takes after me; he screams and cries when he doesn't get his way, and he's had his ups and downs with the bottle.") and admitted his black suit was more subdued, but promised he'd be dressed "more fabulous" as the show wore on. The show also got some star-studded cameos—Tom Hanks was in a number of sketches, Jake Gyllenhaal was on Weekend Update, Carmelo Anthony dressed in drag, and Will Forte returned for an ESPN Classic segment. Click through to watch sketches, such as the Laser Cats Digital Short, Elton John dealing with a mean Queen Elizabeth, John and Leon Russell's performances and more.

After a season full of hip, young hosts, Saturday Night Live is going in another direction this April—the show has both Elton John and Helen Mirren slated to host (the first and second weeks of April, respectively).
Videos: Zach Galifianakis Gets Mohawk For SNL
Comedian and now breakout Hollywood star (hey, Hangover 2 is coming out this summer) Zach Galifianakis hosted Saturday Night Live last night, his second hosting stint in less than a year. Galifianakis, who once told us a more appropriate state slogan for NJ was "Do you like Bon Jovi? We do. And not ironically," unleashed his weirdly wonderful style of humor in a hilarious monologue that involved an Axe body spray reference in urban areas and lip syncing to "Tomorrow" while going through political issues on a flipboard. And at the close of the show, he appeared with a mohawk, apologizing for not getting to the Mr. T sketch!
