The NYPD transit officer who filed a complaint against his superior for unwanted sexual advances has been sued by his boss for slander. Deputy Inspector Thomas Connolly's lawyer tells the Daily News that there are "no merits" to Sergeant Nelson Fernandez's claims that Connolly suggestive sucked his pen, called him "sexy," and inappropriately rubbed his arms on duty. "Fernandez knows it's going to be investigated and he knows that a superior officer, in the midst of that complaint, is going to have to put his career on hold," Connolly's attorney continued. French Prosecutors Investigate DSK's Alleged Rape Attempt On Writer
As Dominique Strauss-Kahn cools his heels in the Big Apple and his lawyers try to get his sexual assault charges completely dropped, French prosecutors are starting an inquiry into allegations that he tried to rape a French journalist in 2003. An unnamed Paris official told the NY Times the investigation "might take time in order to try to reach the truth." Translation: We don't want to look stupid like the Manhattan DA's office.
"Big Bad" Traffic Cop Suing Councilman For Slander
"Big Bad Dan" Chu, the NYPD traffic cop who got in trouble for his terrible on-the-job behavior over the summer, intends to file a $2 million libel and slander lawsuit against the city and the Queens councilman who ratted him out. Chu claims Councilman Dan Halloran and his then-chief of staff Dennis Ring defamed him with "false reports" that he drove recklessly with police lights flashing while chatting on a cell phone. According to the Daily News, Chu is filing this lawsuit even though he admitted to those charges during an NYPD disciplinary hearing, where he was demoted to foot patrol.
"Sneaky Chef" Sues Seinfeld AGAIN
“Sneaky Chef” author Missy Lapine is taking another stab at Jerry Seinfeld, claiming he slandered her character by calling her a “nutjob” on national TV. In a previous lawsuit Lapine accused the comic’s wife of stealing her idea for a cookbook that showed parents how to covertly feed their kids healthy foods (sweet potato in a grilled cheese sandwich, avocado in chocolate pudding etc.). A judge ruled against her but nonetheless Seinfeld felt compelled to call her a “wacko” during an appearance on David Letterman. According to the Daily News, the new suit targets the statements made by the sitcom star as well as Harper Collins, who the author says twice rejected her cookbook concept, before handing a book deal to Seinfeld’s wife.

In court papers filed Tuesday, Missy Chase Lapine—who is suing Jessica Seinfeld for stealing her recipes for sneaking vegetables into kids' food—reveals that she was emotionally devastated by Seinfeld's comments, which compared her to notorious killers with three names like Mark David Chapman, John Lennon's murderer. "I have never felt so frightened and vulnerable as the day my daughter, 7 years old, came home from school and asked, 'Mom, what is an assassin?,'" Lapine says. "I started feeling scared. I thought I made a big mistake talking to any reporters because now this billionaire is angry and attacking me everywhere."
Seinfeld Lawyers Argue that He's a Comedian
Jerry Seinfeld’s lawyers urged a judge yesterday to throw out a defamation lawsuit brought against him by litigious cookbook author Missy Chase Lapine. In addition to suing Seinfeld’s wife Jessica for plagiarizing her book about sneaking healthy food into kids’ meals, Lapine has also sued Jerry for slander after he likened her to an assassin on David Letterman's show: "If you read history, many of the three-name people do become assassins. Mark David Chapman and, you know, James Earl Ray. So, that's my concern."
