The Grimaldi's Pizza relocation saga has come to a happy ending: the city Buildings Department has given approval for Grimaldi's to install a coal-fired oven in their new DUMBO location. “The pie will be the same, maybe a little better,” owner Frank Ciolli told the Post.

Perpetual "best-of" list-topper and cultishly loved Midwood institution Di Fara pizzeria has been shuttered after racking up a not-so-delicious 67 violation points by the Department of Health. The Low Down on Hi-Fi: Still Open!
Earlier today EV Grieve posted notice that the East Village spot Hi-Fi (formerly the beloved Brownies) was shuttered by the NYPD; according to the signs on the door, this was due to "illegal sale of alcoholic beverages." (The signs also stated that "removal of property from the premises was prohibited"—so at least we knew their amazing jukebox wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.) However, we just called Hi-Fi and were assured that they are open (we could even hear the aforementioned jukebox in the background!)—so go, drink, and be merry... because those signs were real, and the end may be nigh. Or not.
Obama Fried Chicken Shut Down By DoH
The Obama Fried Chicken in Harlem may have a Presidential name, but the Health Department just took away any hope they had at staying open. The joint was closed last week with an epic 115 violation points, and according to Grub Street that's almost 100 points past the C mark. What was found amongst the fried chicken? Live roaches, Filth flies and food/refuse/sewage-associated flies, evidence of live rats, inadequate personal hygiene, and temperature violations, to name a few. Country Restaurant Draws Fire from DOH for Sous Vide
There was some surprise when Geoffrey Zakarian’s three star restaurant Country (pictured) was shut down by the Department of Health last Friday. But it turns out that fruit flies, mouse droppings and a fly in the Maker’s Mark were the least of its problems – the main infraction was the restaurant’s unapproved sous vide method, which Country utilizes to vacuum-seal raw meat in plastic for slow cooking at low temperatures.
