Woman Sues Publishing Company Over Sexist Sales Culture

Exhortations to "Close the deal you c---" and "Stop being a f---ing p----y" are allegedly commonplace at GDS International, which is being sued by a 26-year-old Egyptian-American female employee for an unspecified sum. Lobna Abdelrehim is alleging "discrimination" based on gender and religion, as well as "retaliation" for opposing discrimination in the workplace—her lawyer Jack Tuckner tells the Post that GDS's publishing sales culture is "an extreme sort of jock fraternity ethos that's really unfathomable in this day and age. The bosses are all aware of it, and they could care less. It's like a throwback into the 1950s."

Sexual Harassment On Subways An "Underreported Crime"

Today, NYPD Chief James P. Hall, who heads the department's Transit Bureau, told the City Council that sexual harassment was the "No. 1 quality of life offense on the subway," according to City Room. Hall added, "This should not be a part of commuting in New York. t's an under-reported crime." (Nothing, unfortunately, new there.)

Former NY Post Editor Sues Over Firing, Harassment

The NY Post editor who was fired after complaining about a controversial political cartoon depicting the author of Obama's stimulus package as a dead chimpanzee has filed a major lawsuit against the tabloid, News Corp, and Post editor in chief Col Allan. It's a doozy! In the 38 page complaint, Sandra Guzman accuses her former employer of ignoring racist and sexual harassment, and depicts the Post newsroom as a male-dominated frat house run by the crude, misogynistic Allan. Hardly surprising, but her accusations are juicy nonetheless:

His agent Steve Lefkowitz told the Post that the 46-year-old "really needs help, and this was the best way to do it." Coach Store Boss Sued For Irritating Sexual Harassment

A former employee at Coach's flagship Manhattan store is suing the company and his former boss, who he says subjected him to an endless litany of juvenile double entendres and sexual harassment. Oscar Bravo, a former stockroom clerk at the Madison Avenue store, also claims upper management ignored his repeated complaints about supervisor Brandon Williams. Bravo says the annoying behavior included come-ons from Williams to look at his "weiner" on days he brought his pet dachsund to work. "He would say, 'Ok, I have a big weiner, you wanna come see my weiner?'," Oscar Bravo tells the Daily News. "I would say, 'Get the hell out of here, nobody wants to see that.'"

Wife Of Guy In Sex Harassment Suit Would Like Topless Photos Back, Plus $1M

Two female assistants to a hedge fund financier are suing for sexual harassment because he made one of them develop topless photos of his wife and, when she delivered the racy pics, allegedly gave her "a perverted smirk" and asked, "You liked them, didn't you?" Danielle Pecile, 26, and Cristina Culicea, 27, filed a joint lawsuit with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission—Culicea says she was harassed when Titan Capital CEO Russell Abrams tasked her to develop a photo of him and his newlywed Sandra in a bathtub.

Teddy Bear CEO Sued for Sexual Harassment, Rape

For five unbearable years, the male CEO of teddy-bear giant Steiff "engaged in violent sexual assaults and other forms of sexual harassment" against a female employee, according to court papers filed in an $80 million lawsuit. 32-year-old Jane Collins, mother of two, worked as an assistant to Steiff's North American CEO Martin Frechen starting in 2002. She says that while they were attending a conference in Plymouth, Mass., Frechen asked her to come to his hotel room to help with a speech, then tried to force himself on her. She fled, but says Frechen wouldn't take no for an answer, asking Collins to meet him that night behind a gas station, which she declined. The following week, Frechen asked Collins to help him get his wife's car into a storage unit, and then closed the warehouse door and allegedly raped her. Collins insists she didn't report the alleged rape to anyone because she was a single mom and "terrified" she'd lose her job; in fact, she still works there! Collins tells the Post, "I cannot easily imagine working anywhere else. I adore the company's line of teddy bears." To be fair, they are beary adorable!

Duane Reade Proves Fertile Ground for Harassment Payout

It sounds like one bad apple really spoiled the barrel at Duane Reade...to the tune of $240,000! City Room reports that the company today settled a lawsuit brought on by the federal Equal Employment Commission for "a pattern of sexual harassment and retaliation," but it sounds like it all stems from actions taking place at one Bronx location. The commission released a statement saying, “The store manager, Madiaw Diaw, frequently made vulgar remarks about women’s private parts, sexually propositioned female employees, made lewd comments about their pregnancies and bodies, assigned unfavorable job duties to pregnant employees and repeatedly grabbed female employees, including grabbing their buttocks." Duane Reade said that they will instill new training policies, possibly starting with the trick question, "Aren't pregnant women just the laziest?" All of this begs the question if this whole mess could have been avoided if the drug chain was a little more careful about stocking up on some of their OTC offerings.

Lawsuit Accuses DEP Of Sexism

Two female employees with the city's Department of Environmental Protection are suing the department on federal discrimination charges. The Daily News reports, "Lillian Padilla and Magda Rodriguez say they get the hardest and dirtiest jobs, are routinely threatened and insulted, and are denied showers or changing rooms after working in sewage." The pair say they've had pornography put in their trucks, been called "bitches" and "dykes" (they are lesbians) and been threatened when they've complained. They also claim that other female employees have left due to the atmosphere—out of the 426 DEP laborers, five are women—with Padilla adding, "I once had a supervisor telling me that he would never have a woman telling a man what to do." The DEP said it is investigating the complaint, which has been filed with the EEOC. Rodriguez said, "I just want the policies changed so that women have equal rights. I have no shower. She has no shower. We work in sewage. That's what we do all day."

Eddy Might Sue But is Mum on Whether He 'Curried Favors'

A day after his former limo driver filed a head-turning sexual harassment suit and made allegations that he was insulted with racial slurs, a lawyer for Knicks center Eddy Curry says he is is considering a defamation suit in response. Curry told the Chicago Tribune, "He calls me racist and my best friend on the planet is white. He calls me an anti-Semite and my agent is Jewish. I really don't understand how anybody could look at this and think it's remotely true." In today's Times, Knicks teammates rush to defend Curry, calling the allegations, "the complete opposite of his character" and former Coach Isiah Thomas's assessment that he's "a nice man." But Deadspin calls Curry "dodgy" in avoiding the homosexual accusations thrown at him, suggesting he might have "sexual identity issues." In a case of strange timing, the day that the suit was revealed happened to coincide with USA airing the repeat of the Law & Order: SVU episode "Lowdown," where the show tackled the hidden world of the "Down-low" community.

Soiled Towels, Back Pay: Driver Sues Knicks' Eddy Curry

The former limousine driver for Knicks big man Eddy Curry is suing his old boss—for sexual harassment. According to the Post, David Kuchinsky accuses Curry of repeatedly coming onto him, telling him things like, "Look at me, Dave, look" and, "Come and touch it, Dave," all while the 6'11" center was nude. Curry said last night, "This is absolutely false... I can't even believe it."

Lt. Kieran Crowe, a 23-year-veteran of the NYPD who was suspended for 60 days without pay for rubbing his crotch, simulating masturbation and wagging his tongue at his male sergeants, announced his retirement today. Crowe had been found guilty of harassment and "creating a lewd, hostile work environment," despite his insistence that he only touched his groin area to relieve his jock itch. In a statement, Crowe struck a defiant tone, saying, "I vehemently deny these charges." But a lawyer for the victims, Sgts. Sean Gallagher and Dominic Coppola, tells the Daily News, "Crowe's word is as good as his jock itch defense." Not to be outdone, Crowe's lawyer retorts, "Does it make sense that this gentle, homosexual man would seek to coerce and seduce two large, burly heterosexuals?" Hmm, does it mean you're gay if that question makes your groin area itch?

A police lieutenant accused of sexual harassment by two subordinates was found guilty of the harassment charge and "creating a lewd, hostile work environment," according to the Daily News. Two sergeants claimed that Lt. Kieran Crowe "simulated masturbating and wiggled his tongue at them in a sexually suggestive manner" at the Police Headquarters office, which "ironically, investigates harassment in the workplace." Crowe had said he had jock itch, even calling a dermatologist to testify. However, a trial commissioner felt no condition involves "extensive staring at crotches, masturbation gestures, tongue gestures and sighing sounds." Crowe was put on probation and suspended for 60 days. Related: Our old favorite, the cop who was fired because his wife laced his meatballs with marijuana so he'd fail a drug test.

Last year, we mentioned that a financial firm secretary was suing her boss for sexual harassment, claiming he suggested she have an affair with his ex-wife, bring him his erectile dysfunction medicine, and add "F--- Services" to her business card. But now Fatima Monahan is dropping the charges, admitting she made those stories up to "deflect attention" from former boss Frederick Iseman's claims that she charged various items to his credit card (last year, Iseman's lawyer called her a "total liar and a thief"). Monahan, who the Sun says made $125,000 as Iseman's assistant, admitted her allegations "were and are entirely untrue." She pleaded guilty to stealing $45,000 from Iseman (to buy luxury clothing, etc.), must pay restitution and is serving 5 years probation. Iseman said, "She's extremely devious and extremely dangerous."

A well-known lawyer who founded a law firm to fight for women's issues has been sued by an office manager who claims he sexually harassed her. Lisa Brockington says that Jack Tuckner, of Tuckner, Sipser, Weinstock & Sipser (whose firm URL is womensrightsny.com), is a "chauvinist masquerading as a woman's advocate."

Gay NY Rangers fans are unhappy about the "toxic atmosphere" at Madison Square Garden during Rangers games. One of their examples is the reaction to Larry Goodman's dancing (pay attention at about 19 seconds in):
