Dog Spotted Hogging Seat On Crowded Subway

So far this year we're doing terribly in the etiquette department. That guy with the phone at the philharmonic, those teenaged seat hogs, and a shocking 42% of you are upstreamers! Well here comes our latest offender: a tiny dog (at least it wasn't an opossum?). more ›

Video: Rude Injured Man vs. Rude Subway Seat Hog

Someone named "Joey Boots" (if that is your real name) has posted a video on YouTube showing an encounter with a "selfish and inconsiderate bitch" (his words). He explains that he dislocated his knee last week and has a cane and knee brace, which is keeping his leg outstretched. Yesterday morning our hobbling protagonist "got on the 4 train in the Bronx... the seats in the corners have signs above them saying that is seating for disabled/handicapped passengers. So I asked this lady if I could have the seat as I had to stretch my leg out and didn't want others stepping on it or it being in the way of others and she loudly refuses saying I should sit somewhere else... Subway Seat Hog Subset Man-sitters, Beware!

The NYC Transit's Rules of Subway/Bus Conduct note that it is a violation to:

Place one's foot on the seat of a subway, bus, or platform bench; occupy more than one seat or place bags on an empty seat when doing so would interfere with transit operations or the comfort of other customers.
And while mansitting is indeed behavior that interferes with the comfort of other customers, sometimes it comes so naturally to subway riders that others are driven to create logos like this. Next, we hope for the "No Jerks Who Don't Give Up Their Seats to the Elderly, Disabled, Pregnant or People with Kids" logo, but that might take a little while longer. more ›
