Good news for those also suffering through reverse seasonal affective disorder: we are over halfway through the sweltering summer months! According to our calculations, this past Saturday was the half-way point through the season, which so far has brought a brutal heatwave and broken subway air conditioners. Sure, we'll soon be complaining about the cold once again, while we ponder new ways to say "snowmageddon," and compile our Top Five Fireplace Bars list... but it's still nice to know that we're half way through this thing. more ›

As you are no doubt aware, tomorrow's forecast calls for snow. The snow, which will be mixed with rain, is expected to start in the morning and continue through the afternoon. Our merciless meteorologists, who are simply doing their jobs and should not be targeted by angry mobs, predict that the snow will not accumulate—except of course inside our downtrodden, weather-beaten souls, where Winter is firmly ensconced in a comfortable wing chair, feet up on an ottoman, flipping through our copy of Racing Form, and showing no sign of complying with our pitiful "hints" that we would really prefer to be with Spring from now on. more ›

“Disoriented, overwhelmed, alienated [and] alone,” graphic designer Acamonchi made these sketches during his bleak, cold-weather commutes. Apparently New York winter is rough on the Mexican-born artist, but it’s a good thing: without the sour mix of feelings there’s no way he could have achieved these perfect renditions of our city’s scarf-huddled masses along with the forlorn objects that surround them. more ›
