On Friday Gothamist visited the set of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Undead, a bizarre little indie shooting in the East Village. The movie is a sequel of sorts to Tom Stoppard’s hilarious existential comedy Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, but with “sexy vampires, the Holy Grail and Hamlet.” Jake Hoffman (son of Dustin), who appeared on some Arrested Development episodes, is a broke, frustrated ladies man who jumps at the chance to direct an off-Broadway play written by a pale, mysterious Romanian, played by John Ventimiglia, best known as Artie Bucco in the Sopranos. The two page blackmail letter that Yoko Ono's driver, Koral Karsan, wrote in hopes of receiving $2M from her, was released yesterday. Karsan's lawyer, Robert Gottlieb, filed it with Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Daniel FitzGerald.

The man accused of extorting his employer, Yoko Ono, for $2 million managed to raise money for his $250,000 bail, but is still in jail. Friends of Koral Karsan, who the Manhattan DA's office says threatened the lives of Ono and her son Sean Lennon as well as reveal Ono's personal details, put up the money, but the prosecutors are reviewing where the money comes from. While Karsan's lawyer says the money is from friends who are not criminals, the DA's office had made a point of noting that Karsan, who allegedly told Ono he was moving to Turkey, was an "extraordinary flight risk."

Tonight he plays The Living Room on Ludlow Street, as a kick off to his tour. Brooklyn Vegan has the rest of his tour dates.

Never, ever, did we want to see a Lohan collaborate on anything with a Lennon. Ever. Let's hope it ends at this trailer.

So, by now you've asked, "where's all the rock and roll?" I've got an answer for you, friends. SXSW. South by Southwest. They stole it all.

We won't lie, pretty much every band is in Austin right now. But don't let that get you down, there are still some things worth seeing in this city over the next four days - and we bet you'll have a more enjoyable time. With everyone out of the city there will be less crowds and less waiting for a drink at the bar...take advantage of it!

If you missed out on tickets to the Futureheads tonight there are still a lot of other great shows this week. Tonight we suggest the Epochs. We were handed their cd upon leaving the Arcade Fire show at Irving earlier this month. Upon listening we discovered some uncomparable eclectic electro-acoustic-pop (say that 3 times fast). They play at the Knitting Factory tap bar tonight at 10:30 (for free). Before they go on check out Mommy and Daddy at 8pm downstairs in the Knit's Old Office.

If you plan on hitting the clubs next week and taking part in the annual CMJ music binge, why not use the coming days to rest up, get some sleep and save your pennies? A week of rest woudln't hurt, would it?

Well, the Siren Music Festival is over and we have to go back to actually paying for our live music--most of the time. The next week is filled with great shows, and a handfull of them are either free or require a very small donation. Gotta love NYC in the summer!
