On Friday Gothamist visited the set of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Undead, a bizarre little indie shooting in the East Village. The movie is a sequel of sorts to Tom Stoppard’s hilarious existential comedy Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, but with “sexy vampires, the Holy Grail and Hamlet.” Jake Hoffman (son of Dustin), who appeared on some Arrested Development episodes, is a broke, frustrated ladies man who jumps at the chance to direct an......

The two page blackmail letter that Yoko Ono's driver, Koral Karsan, wrote in hopes of receiving $2M from her, was released yesterday. Karsan's lawyer, Robert Gottlieb, filed it with Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Daniel FitzGerald. In the letter, Karsan accused Ono of sexually harrassing him, and vowed to call Sean Lennon (along with his ex, Bijou Phillips), "Paul", and Rolling Stone's Jann Wenner to testify on his behalf. He also wrote down that Sean Lennon......

THEATER: Should we be trying to protect our children from the man in red? That’s the premise of Jeff Goode’s much-performed The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, in which Santa’s vices are exposed by those on the receiving end of his lash. A scandal erupts when Vixen accuses Santa of sexual harassment; in the subsequent media frenzy, the other members of the sleigh team demand to share their perspectives, and a sordid tale of corruption comes to......

The man accused of extorting his employer, Yoko Ono, for $2 million managed to raise money for his $250,000 bail, but is still in jail. Friends of Koral Karsan, who the Manhattan DA's office says threatened the lives of Ono and her son Sean Lennon as well as reveal Ono's personal details, put up the money, but the prosecutors are reviewing where the money comes from. While Karsan's lawyer says the money is from friends......

As previously mentioned, Sean Lennon is back with a new album. His Friendly Fire cd release has been accompanied by such marketing tools as short films with Lindsay Lohan. Above is a video for "Spectacle", which is sans young Hollywood starlets. Tonight he plays The Living Room on Ludlow Street, as a kick off to his tour. Brooklyn Vegan has the rest of his tour dates.......

Above is just about the most confusing thing we've received in the mail. A dvd containing a "movie trailer" for Sean Lennon's Friendly Fire cd. Luckily someone has put it on Youtube so you can all share in the experience. It features: Sean Lennon, Lindsay Lohan, Devon Aoki, Asia Argento, Jordanna Brewster, Carrie Fisher, Harper Simpson and Bijou Phillips. Never, ever, did we want to see a Lohan collaborate on anything with a Lennon.......

So, by now you've asked, "where's all the rock and roll?" I've got an answer for you, friends. SXSW. South by Southwest. They stole it all. This week, though, here are some options: Tuesday, Sean Lennon is playing Tonic, and, in case you didn't know, Tonic needs saving. Seeing Sean play will help save Tonic. Even if you don't like him, you can buy a ticket for $12. If you do like him, bravo, you......

With everyone out of the city there will be less crowds and less waiting for a drink at the bar...take advantage of it! Tonight at Irving Plaza you can catch the......

If you missed out on tickets to the Futureheads tonight there are still a lot of other great shows this week. Tonight we suggest the Epochs. We were handed their cd upon leaving the Arcade Fire show at Irving earlier this month. Upon listening we discovered some uncomparable eclectic electro-acoustic-pop (say that 3 times fast). They play at the Knitting Factory tap bar tonight at 10:30 (for free). Before they go on check out Mommy......

If you plan on hitting the clubs next week and taking part in the annual CMJ music binge, why not use the coming days to rest up, get some sleep and save your pennies? A week of rest woudln't hurt, would it? But it's not that easy. Not this week...though the shows are mostly big ticket events that will set you back a few bucks. The big names precede CMJ this year. Next week we'll......

Well, the Siren Music Festival is over and we have to go back to actually paying for our live music--most of the time. The next week is filled with great shows, and a handfull of them are either free or require a very small donation. Gotta love NYC in the summer! The Hives have a new album out and they're playing Irving Plaza tonight and tomorrow with those cute and rather rockin' girls, Sahara Hotnights.......
