The uncle of Lee Coleman, the man that stole several knives and slashed two people on 2nd Ave. last Saturday before being shot by an off-duty officer, says that he called the police hours before the attack and that they refused to help. Alexander Flowers said that on 4 a.m. Saturday morning he saw his nephew, who was clearly disturbed. He called Co-op City security and then the police around 7 a.m. According to the......

The MTA is refreshing its campaign to remind mass transit riders to "See Something, Say Something" with some new print and television spots. The work acknowledges that the MTA and/or the police received 1,944 tips in 2006 (a total of 9,000 calls were made to 888-NYC-SAFE). MTA Executive Director and CEO Elliot G. While they mark the holiday shopping season, does anyone even notice department store window displays anymore? In front of both Lord & Taylor and Saks, there were velvet ropes positioned for lines, and security present for 'crowd control'...but it seemed as if very few had even a passing interest in the windows. Take a look at Lord & Taylor (pictured above), for instance. Please keep those rosy cheeked youths and sweat suited tourists back!......

Even though we live in a "See Something, Say Something" subway society, it turns out that the MTA's evacuation plans are the same ones from before Spetember 11. AMNY explains:New hires, such as motormen, conductors and cleaners, generally receive several hours of evacuation training at the Coney Island Rail Yards, then get a refresher course once every three years. In the interim, workers are issued the same 21/2-page, 17-point bulletin that provides general instructions on......

Another week begins and it's time to start penciling in some shows. Tonight, The Concretes are back! The Scandinavian 8+ person band will be playing Bowery Ballroom. While over at Sin-e King of France, Less and Dawn Landes play a more intimate gig. Tuesday night Guillemots, Levy, The Marina play Bowery. The name Guillemots has been overwhelming our inbox lately, but we've yet to give it a good listen. From what we can tell they're......

The Mayor is speaking! The Police Commissioner there! The FBI just shared some "specific" threat information about a threat to the NYC subways. The Mayor is trying to reassure commuters that the NYPD has done a lot (shout out to the Hercules team and subway bag checkers). He also says that a media outlet got the tip two days ago and held it. Also, shout out to "See Something, Say Something." A cynical theory:......
