Zooey Deschanel got to work her quirky, indie "it girl" mojo on Saturday Night Live last night, batting her overly mascara'd eyelashes at the audience and strumming her ukelele. She was also the butt of the joke: SNL performer Abby Elliott played Deschanel in a sketch, "Being Quirky With Zooey Deschanel," with Deschanel playing Mary Kate Olsen (wrapped in a boho electric blanket; Michael Cera and Bjork were also part of the Quirky club). more ›

If your past as a male stripper is more famous than your previous movies, than obviously Saturday Night Live will milk that for all it's worth. Last night's host Channing Tatum (yes, you can watch his striptease here) acknowledged his exotic dancer experiences in the monologue— and proceeded to show off his chiseled chest in that bit as well as a few other sketches. Highlights included a cold open featured Newt Gingrich as Moon President, Weekend Update's take on Lana Del Ray's performance a few weeks ago, Bobby Moynihan's Guy Fieri impression, Tom Brady at a Ruby Tuesday's and a killer Spike TV commercial for... Downton Abbey. And Bon Iver performed! more ›

Katy Perry returned to Saturday Night Live, this time as the host (she was memorable in a skit last year), but it seems her evening was upstaged by the attention-starved 30 Rock star, Alec Baldwin. Baldwin, who amused the nation this week when he was kicked off a plane for being rude to the crew who wanted him to stop playing with his cellphone, appeared on Weekend Update as airline pilot "Steve Rogers" and issued his sincerest apologies to Baldwin, "Mr. Baldwin is an American treasure and I am ashamed of the way he was treated." more ›

Steve Buscemi, the beloved character actor who has gone from "funny-looking" to the Golden Globe-winning lead in Boardwalk Empire, hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time last night. Jason Segel Reminds Us Of The More Adult Muppets That Used To Be On SNL

Jason Segel, who has a little movie called The Muppets coming out this week, just talked extensively about his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live, also offering up this cute anecdote to Moviefone—his list of goals that he made when he was a kid had three things on it: to be on Letterman, to work with the Muppets, and to host SNL. He told them, "I did all three last week. In one week! That's not hyperbole, that's an actual list I had." more ›

After a three-week break, Saturday Night Live made up for lost ground by starting things off with a visit from the ghost of Moammer Gadhafi, who confirmed, "I got murdered pretty bad last week." The show also took aim at Kim Kardashian's short-lived, televised marriage with Nasim Pedrad's dead-on impression, "Things are looking up for me. I'm single, and there's an NBA lock-out." more ›

Videos: SNL Mocks Bloomberg's Occupy Wall Street Response

Last week, Saturday Night Live mentioned Occupy Wall Street during Weekend Update. Now, after the city backed down from cleaning Zuccotti Park, SNL decided to spoof Mayor Bloomberg's response to OWS during its cold open. Bloomberg, played by Fred Armisen, explained to America that the protesters had to be removed because all NYC streets are regularly power-washed. He also gave the addresses of some rich New Yorkers and said that the NYPD will only really get tough if anyone tries smoking in this city. more ›

Happy Birthday, Saturday Night Live—Party On!

Happy Birthday, Saturday Night Live—Party On!

The first ever episode of Saturday Night Live aired on this date, back in 1975—so it's time to say Happy Birthday to Lorne Michaels & Co. (may we suggest some Schweddy Balls?). Recently, we revisited the early days with these audition tapes, and below, you can check out scenes from Season 1. Here is host George Carlin's opening monologue from the first night, which he begins, "Thank you! Talk about a live show! It's nice to see you, welcome, and thanks for joining us—live. Um.. I'm kinda glad that we're on at night, so that we're not competing with all the football and baseball. So many, man.. And this is the time of year when there's both, you know?" more ›

Videos: Derek Zoolander Resurfaces On Saturday Night Live

Last night, Ben Stiller hosted Saturday Night Live and dusted off his Derek Zoolander impression for a Weekend Update bit with nightlife expert Stefon. While Stiller's Tower Heist co-star Eddie Murphy did not appear on the show, Hugh Jackman did appear in a sketch (which does not seem to be online—it involves Andy Samberg as Jackman and Jackman as...Daniel Radcliffe). Check out more highlights, including Seth Meyers' mention of Occupy Wall Street's Brooklyn Bridge arrests, a Bruce Springsteen DVD commercial, a distressing Digital Short about V-neck shirts, and Kenny G performing with Foster The People, by clicking through the pictures. more ›

Since Alec Baldwin can't host Saturday Night Live forever, and Radiohead can't always be the musical guest, it's time to move on. And following his stint, on October 15th, Anna Faris and Drake will be taking over the studio. Stiller was a cast member in the 80s, and hosted last in 1998; Faris hosted one other time, in 2008. more ›

Last night was the much anticipated 37th season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Future mayor Alec Baldwin hosted for a record 16th time, breaking a tie with Steve Martin—Martin made a guest appearance during the monologue to make sure Baldwin wasn't using any performing-enhancing drugs (Seth Rogen was also there...for no particular reason). Baldwin, who addressed the Schweddy Balls controversy at one point as well, unloaded some fantastic impressions throughout the night, including his versions of Al Pacino, Tony Bennett, and Rick Perry. more ›

You Have Less Than Two Weeks To Email For SNL Tickets

With future Mayor Alec Baldwin and merry dancers Radiohead scheduled to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on September 24, we're actually excited about SNL for once! We even kind of wouldn't mind seeing it in person...except that it's notoriously tough getting tickets (especially when one works on Saturdays), with the 7 a.m. lines and all. However, there's a little loophole that can possibly save us (and you) an early morning wake up. more ›

Radiohead To Be Musical Guest On SNL Premiere... Shows To Follow?

It was just announced that Radiohead will be the musical guests on the September 24th season premiere of Saturday Night Live! Mayor-in-training Alec Baldwin will be the guest host, making for the show's best lineup in years. This will be Radiohead's second time on SNL; the first came in 2000, promoting Kid A, when they performed blistering versions of "The National Anthem" and "Idioteque," during which Thom Yorke unleashed his now-classic spastic-sexy dance moves for the world. Last night was the much-anticipated (by Lady Gaga fans) season finale of Saturday Night Live. Justin Timberlake hosted, with Lady Gaga as the musical guest, but Gaga did a bit of acting herself in a game show sketch as well as the SNL Digital Short, "3-Way/The Golden Rule," where those Dick-in-a-Box Motherf***ers returned to have a three-way with Gaga, because "It's not gay when it's a three-way." more ›

Tina Fey returned to her old Studio 8H stomping grounds and hosted a Saturday Night Live whose two main themes were "Osama bin Laden is dead!" and "It's Mother's Day!" After a cold opening showing Osama bin Laden's videotaped last will (requesting a virgin 12-year-old Dakota Fanning), Fey launched into a song about her unborn child along with fellow SNL alum Maya Rudolph, who is also expecting. Later on, there were sketches about natural childbirth, finding Bin Laden in the sea, a Digital Short with Michael Bolton and a Republican debate featuring Sarah Palin ("It’s just so great to be back on Fox News, a network that both pays me and shows me the questions ahead of tim. I just hope that tonight the lamestream media won’t twist my words by repeating them verbatim"), Donald Trump, and many others...like Jimmy McMillan. more ›

Timberlake And Gaga May Be Teaming Up For SNL Finale

It's been (somewhat awkwardly) announced that Justin Timberlake will be hosting the season finale of Saturday Night Live this year. He'll be closing out the 36th season on May 21st, according to a Tweet from the show that has now been deleted! According to HuffPo, it went something like this: When a Twitter follower wrote, "I didn’t realize that @nbcsnl isn’t back until May 7th!!! What am I going to do!? Is Tina Fey the season finale!?" the show responded, "Nope! We have Timberlake after that!" more ›

Videos: Helen Mirren's Boobs Take Center Stage On SNL

Dame Helen Mirren may have won an Oscar for playing a rather dowdy Queen Elizabeth in The Queen, but on Saturday Night Live, her babe-ness was emphasized. Much was made of the 65-year-old's breasts, including a Digital Short about their magical powers. Click through the photos for videos of last night's sketches, including a spoof of Fox & Friends, a look at Mary Shelley's landlord Frank Stein, and a Crunk-Ass Easter Festival, as well as musical performances from the Foo Fighters. more ›

Last night, Sir Elton John hosted Saturday Night Live, while also taking a turn as the musical guest with Leon Russell (who was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). He made jokes about being gay, being a new father, and his past troubles with alcoholism during his monologue ("So far the baby really takes after me; he screams and cries when he doesn't get his way, and he's had his ups and downs with the bottle.") and admitted his black suit was more subdued, but promised he'd be dressed "more fabulous" as the show wore on. The show also got some star-studded cameos—Tom Hanks was in a number of sketches, Jake Gyllenhaal was on Weekend Update, Carmelo Anthony dressed in drag, and Will Forte returned for an ESPN Classic segment. Click through to watch sketches, such as the Laser Cats Digital Short, Elton John dealing with a mean Queen Elizabeth, John and Leon Russell's performances and more. more ›
