It was a sight to warm the hearts of dialysis clinic owners citywide: The massive, football field-size space la.venue at The Waterfront in Chelsea was overrun by 43 of New York's top pastry chefs and confectioners last night for the Food & Wine Festival's most anticipated debauchery. The event sold out before the Wall Street crash, and with tickets going for $175 a pop it's no wonder people queued up well before the doors opened to make sure they got their dwindling dollar's worth.

Was (the now closed) West Village lesbian mainstay Rubyfruit butch-slapped by Lindsay Lohan's love Samantha Ronson? The NY Post reports that the struggling bar/restaurant asked the deejay to play a benefit, but allegedly she refused and her management informed the establishment that "she doesn't do those kind of venues." The club's resident deejay told the paper that, "It's really like betraying her sisters. It just doesn't make sense." Meanwhile, Ronson's spokesperson maintains that she was never even contacted by Rubyfruit...maybe this is their way of drawing attention to their new bar, the RF Lounge (opening in November!)?

Sorry Michael Phelps, Lindsay Lohan's just not that into you...but she is into her girlfriend Samantha Ronson! The NY Post is reporting (albeit via The Sun) that following the matching tattoos, the PDA and the dinner with Dina, the two have gotten engaged! Maybe. The paper reports, "just days after DJ Samantha Ronson announced at a gig that Lindsay would be her wife by the end of year," Lohan was spotted with a sparkling ring on a very important finger. While the giant, heart-shaped ring seems a more like a novelty piece, Ronson did declare: "By the end of this year, my love will be Mrs. Ronson!" Could a Ronson-Lohan baby be far off?

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson (fresh off of Fashion Week) woke up on this 9/11 morning and went straight to their MySpace blogs to deliver their messages of remembrance. If their "currently listening to" sections are to be believed, their blogging was soundtracked by John Lennon's "Imagine" and The Concert for New York City cd. Feel free to put one of those selections on now as you read their reminiscences. Lohan writes:

“I am in New York and I would like to remind everybody to take a moment today for those lost in tragedy that occurred on 9/11/01. thank you. xox L”

If you haven't noticed yet, Fashion Week kicked off in New York on Friday. Yesterday the Humane Society teamed up with Charlotte Ronson for the fur-free designer's first Bryant Park showing. Before the first look came down the runway, however, her sister Samantha stole the show with her favorite accessory by her side: Lindsay Lohan. The paparazzi, crazed interns and everyone with a camera swarmed and nearly turned the duo into runway roadkill.

After reading about Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan's romantic afternoon yesterday in the city (Chanel in SoHo, lunch at Bar Pitti, dinner at Gemma and a party at the Bowery Hotel), we were going to write that if their much-rumored relationship is a publicity stunt, it's totally working. And then we saw this caption accompanying the photos of their afternoon of summer lovin', courtesy of WireImage:

Trucks will also be in Atlanta, Chicago (Kanye West truck) and Philadelphia (Beanie Sigal, which Gothamist thought was "Bernie Seigel" at first, but then we realized that was too accountant-y; and for the record, the best name on the Rocafella roster is Freekey Zeekey).
