Queerty has it that a Rite-Aid on Sixth Avenue and 13th Street posted this anti-gay P.D.A. sign in their store over the weekend. If true, it doesn’t seem like the smartest way to win over the Greenwich Village/Chelsea clientele. But employee Kularee Kamhal, who worked there all weekend, swears “it’s a lie.” There is no manager or employee named Tom Marquez; according to her the store’s manager is one Jose Santos. Something doesn’t add......

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced an investigation that found Rite Aid and CVS drugstore chains selling expired goods, like medicine, milk, eggs, and baby formula. Cuomo called it a "double whammy for the consumer." The statewide investigation revealed 142 CVS (60% of the stores visited) and 112 Rite Aid (43% of stores visited) stores in over 41 counties were selling expired products. A CVS near City Hall was selling expired decongestant, while a Rite Aid......

New Yorkers like to joke about the spread of chain drugstores, bank branches, and Starbucks in the city, but residents of Sunnyside, Queens can claim bragging rights in a shining example of the phenomena. Greenpoint Avenue is home to two adjacent Rite Aid drugstores, which sit literally right next to each other. According to the Daily News, it initially appears to be one giant store, but, in fact, they are two separately owned and operated......

This morning, the Today show featured a segment about a NYC resident (and Mets fan, judging by his hat) who calls himself Jimmy Justice and spends his days documenting various civil servants - mainly traffic enforcement agents - committing various sins. It's like Uncivil Servants with more than a dash of confrontational TV. You can see Jimmy Justice's videos here on YouTube. He asks a traffic agent why she's parked in front of a hydrant,......

State Senator Jeff Klein, who reps the Bronx, part of Yonkers, Eastchester, Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, released a list of the "dirty dozen" supermarkets of establishments that have failed many, many supermarket inspections. Klein's issue with inspections is that even if an establishment fails many times, they can still operate. Thus, a "three-strike law" should be put in place to make sure the stores shape up. Questionable establishments are in all five boroughs and......

One of our most commented-posts was the one about various scams that are pulled on people, especically on susceptible people unused to New York City-style hustle, grifts and cons. And many con artists do like to stalk areas that are flush with tourists and students. So we were pleased that all of the tips and scams our commenters had given us the first time around could benefit other people, such as reader Josh who sent......

Jeez-- just what the Village needs-- another Duane Reade! Kim's Video used to live in the basement of this building on the corner of Bleecker and Laguardia-- it was a dank, fetid, dark little hole, but it was the only place within ten blocks where you could rent a video or DVD, and the clerks knew what they were talking about. The facade of the building was decorated with strange plexiglass sculptures-- it's too......

Another one bites the dust. Brooklyn Heights' most elegant, friendly supermarket has shut its doors - the D'Agostino's on the corner of Henry Street and Love Lane. Housed in, well, a house of sorts, the Heights' D'Ag was always an oasis of clean and calm in comparison to its local brethren - the nasty Henry Street Gristedes and Montague Street Key Foods to be exact. Now, it looks like fine food shopping will solely be......

Accelerating his bid to be the next governor of New York, Attorney General Eliot Spitzer tackles another important-to-constituents issue - besides nailing white collar criminals - prescription drugs. The Attorney General's Office has developed a website to let NYers find the best deals of 25 prescription drugs. The site is AG Rx, and Gothamist did a couple searches to see how much we could save. We've included the lowest and highest prices, as well as......
