Normally, Law & Order: SVU rips its stories from the headlines after they actually take place in the real world. But could it be possible that just this once, SVU predicted a scandal before it broke? Regular viewers may be struck by the similarities between the horrifying child abuse allegations against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky—accusations that legendary coach Joe Paterno knew about—and the crime tackled in the recent SVU episode "Personal Fouls." Here's the preview:
Did Law & Order: SVU Predict The Joe Paterno Scandal?
Law & Order: SVU Rips Strauss-Kahn Sex Scandal On The Small Screen
A Christopher Meloni-less Law & Order: SVU kicked off its 13th season last night in typically sensational fashion, going straight for the ripped-from-the-headlines jugular with a DSK-inspired episode.
Law & Order: SVU Takes On Arnold's Love Child
Carrying on in its long and fruitful tradition of ripping stories straight from the headlines, Law & Order: SVU is apparently planning an episode based on the real-life Arnold Schwarzenegger secret lovechild scandal that ended his marriage with Maria Shriver.
Crane Accident and Ledger Get L&O Treatment
Get ready for some high-profile headlines to be ripped from the papers for Law & Order, starting with tonight's episode about a crane accident. According to the Post, L&O doesn't really deal with "this city's crooked contractors and their shoddy half-built nightmares, sleazy inspectors and falling cranes," it just begins with a crane accident and then the investigation goes in another direction. Meanwhile, over on Page Six there's talk of (sigh) a Heath Ledger-esque Law & Order. They report that the plot "is 'supposed to be about Heath Ledger' and features a male supermodel, played by Ryan Locke, who 'has a great career and gets all the ladies.' Perhaps the eeriest comparison is to Ledger's actual death by overdose when the character 'leaves a club with a girl. They have sex and do drugs, and the next morning, his friend finds him dead.'" Next up: Joshua Walter and Gina Salamino?
