If Alec Baldwin fell out of favor with you after his in-flight tantrum, then he might just win you back with this. The actor has teamed up with PETA in a new campaign against the Ringling Bros. Circus. In the below four-minute video, he narrates the life of a circus elephant from birth, to being "broken," to getting bullhooked by trainers. The video shows footage of the elephants being tortured by circus employees—footage that is even more disturbing than PETA's original video documenting the abuse, which we published in 2009.

Coney Island May Get Ringling Bros. Circus This Summer
The Ringling Brothers Circus is considering pitching a tent at Coney Island this summer, but the most obvious location for the show, the now-desolate Astroland site on the Boardwalk, was nixed because of developer Joe Sitt and his company Thor Equities.
PETA Targets New Yorkers
Time Out NY has a list of PETA's most wanted in the city. The organization has 25,000 of its 1.6 million members based right here, and while we wish they'd have a crack team of those members targeting folks like Brooklyn's Cruella DeVil, here are some of the big offenders.
Running of the Elephants 2006
Last night the Ringling Brothers circus arrived in Manhattan. As usual, the elephants did the final leg of the journey to Madison Square Garden on foot, because they're a little too big to truck or train into the city. The running was a delayed by a car accident on the Queens side of the Midtown Tunnel-- word from the cops on the scene was that the police had to clean up a bunch of glass before it was safe for the elephants to walk. By 1:30am, the scene on the Manhattan side was totally crazy-- after waiting for an hour in the freezing cold, most of the onlookers and reporters were totally giddy with hypothermia.
The Circus Comes to Town
Last night, Ringling Brothers Circus arrived in Manhattan by way of the Midtown Tunnel. The main attraction was the running of the elephants up 34th Street around 12:30am. The scene was wonderful chaos- a pack of ten or more elephants, followed by horses, shetland ponies, and two or three squads of PETA protesters. A bunch of the photobloggers were on hand to document the happening- throw a link in the comments and we'll add them to this list:
Elephants Everywhere!
Gothamist was there when the elephants from Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey finally arrived, at 12:35am on a snowy Wednesday morning. The scene was wild- music, cheering, clapping, screaming. The elephants, however, seemed calm and healthy. More pictures at Bluejake.
City Hall Circus
The Mayor welcomed Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Circus to City Hall. Yes, it's circus time, which means the Knicks and Rangers are on the road from mid-March till mid-April. Not that end of the season games are important or anything.
