Our city's manholes are safe again—for now. Yesterday police arrested an alleged crack-addict named Andrew Modica and charged him with stealing multiple manhole covers across town. He reportedly admits to taking some of the 30-odd, 320-pound cast-iron ConEd covers that have recently gone missing across town—but denies taking all of them. Meanwhile, police also arrested two different men in relation to the iron tree guards that had recently disappeared from Restaurant Row. Either somebody is really into selling scrap metal these days, or an incredible art show is coming to Bushwick soon. Just after we were left giggling over somebody robbing more than 30 NYC manholes of their covers comes word that somebody else (or maybe the same somebody?) went and stole a slew of iron tree guards from Times Square's Restaurant Row. If you’ve got an adventurous appetite and don’t mind a mob scene, tonight’s Taste of Times Square shindig is for you. Starting at 5 p.m., 46th Street between Ninth Avenue and Broadway will be turned over to vendors serving samples from local restaurants.
