No Charges Against Hofstra Student For False Rape Accusations

The 18-year-old Hofstra freshman who falsely accused five men of raping her in a dormitory hall bathroom will not face criminal charges. Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice said that Danmell Ndonye will instead undergo extensive mental health counseling and must perform 250 hours of community service; if she doesn't, then criminal charges may be pursued.

Details continue to emerge about the now-suspended Hofstra student's fake allegations that she was the victim of a gang rape in a dorm bathroom. Her new boyfriend speaks with the NY Post, giving a possible (disturbing) suggested motive for why Danmell Ndonye lied: Apparently she may have wanted to protect her reputation with him and others, even if it meant accusing five other men of rape.

Hofstra Student Made Up Horrible Rape Story, "Suspects" Released

Whoa: The Hofstra student who claimed five men had gang raped her in a dormitory bathroom stall—resulting in four suspects being arrested and a manhunt for the fifth—apparently lied about the story. Newsday reports, "After hearing the news, prosecutors convened a late night court hearing at First District Court in Hempstead where Judge Robert Bruno signed an order dismissing the charges against the four men in the case."

Yesterday, the Post reported City Councilman Dennis Gallagher, the Queens politican accused of raping a woman last summer, was offered a plea deal that would "keep him out of jail and off the sex-offender registry" and possibly force him to resign office.
