Diddy's Diamonds Lost In A Midtown Crowd

Uh oh, what did Diddy do now. The rapper accidentally tossed one of his diamond rings into a crowd while performing for BET's 106 & Park show (filmed on 57th Street), and ended the performance with a frisking of audience members! The Post reports that attendees were treated "like common criminals" once the cameras cut — and they took their grievances to Twitter to kill time, one saying: "Ok diddy lost his ring... and now there frisking all the kids like this is Rikers lite."

Though the mystery has never been solved, many have attached Sean "Diddy" Combs and Christopher Wallace (Biggie Smalls/The Notorious B.I.G.) to the 1994 attack and 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur -- sparking an East Coast/West Coast rap war, leading to Biggie's 1997 murder and escalating the "no snitching" policy into law. The accusation even came from Tupac himself after the attack in 1994.

Anyone looking for closure in the Diddy SoHo slapfest case, look no further. Reports are that prosecutors aren't pursuing criminal charges against Mr. Combs anymore because "Stephen Acevedo appeared to stop cooperating with police - after accusing the rap star of sucker-punching him inside the exclusive SoHo club on Oct. 13 after the two quarreled over women." Of course, Acevedo's lawyer says he is taking the "high road" and declining to talk further about the...

The latest news in the fatal shooting during a rap video shoot in Brooklyn is that Busta Rhymes may have witnessed his bodyguard's death. Police Commissioner Kelly announced as much yesterday, and other police sources are saying that Rhymes (born Trevor Smith) may have been playing "peacemaker" between some other rappers. Rhymes had been shooting a video for his song, "Touch It {Remix)," and there were a number of music stars on hand to do cameos - Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and DMX; he originally told police that he was on set during the shooting, but the widow of Israel Ramirez says that Rhymes called her and said he saw it all. Most of the attention is being put on Tony Yayo (part of 50 Cent's crew) and Swizz Beatz (who has produced for Jay-Z and DMX) respectively, who may have had an argument. The Post has a who's who of some of the characters and a timeline of events while the Daily News's Errol Louis says Rhymes and other hip-hop artists should create a fund for Ramirez's chlidren, citing the "criminal irresponsibility of so many of the people who make money creating and marketing hip-hop music."

been singing extremely off-key lately.) But now it seems like it's safer that we don't have a Bad Boy lifestyle - last night, at a party the former Puff Daddy had for a posthumous Biggie Smalls album, three people were shot and three other people were stabbed. Yup - the police found three men bleeding at a parking garage across from Club Exit, where the party was being held, and then a 911 call alerted them to the fact that three men were stabbed in the Club Exit's VIP lounge. It's unclear why the shootings occured, though the police did see a car with a bullet hole leaving the scene. And the stabbings seem to be motivated by a partygoer upset that he lost "a flashy bracelet." Ah, "flashy bracelet" - the third reason for club violence, after "Skank ho poured beer on my weave" and "What are you doing with my man/woman?" And P. Diddy was only at the club for fifteen minutes, none of them during the crimes (and neither was Shyne!). All six men are recovering at area hospitals.

The NY Times on Guy Velella. And Gothamist wonders if Shyne will incorporate Velella into his next album.

Busta Rhymes's Pass the Courvoisier, which features not just P.Diddy but Pharell as well: Lyrics, making of the video, and live performance. And another Courvoisier conoissuer: The Ladies' Man.

Madonna signed copies of her book, The English Roses, at Barnes & Noble at Rockefeller Center yesterday for 250 people who won a special lottery. Many devoted fans who weren't able to enter the store stood outside, as Madonna told reporters how the book's message was about "how destructive feelings of envy and jealousy are. And everybody feels it."

Sean John, the clothing line rap impressario P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/Sean Combs/that guy everywhere samplin' everything, may be getting its own stores. The Post notes that the Diddy may have secured financing for 10 retail stores, including a flagship in Manhattan, while PD's music career is not what it used to be. Maybe it's because PD is so ubiquitous - Gothamist can't remember an episode of Entertainment Tonight or MTV video where he's not present. The spectre of P. Diddy looms large.
