Accused Ivanka Trump Stalker Headed Back To Psych Ward

The last we heard from "fake stalker" Justin Massler, aka Cloud Starchaser, the man who is accused of stalking Ivanka Trump in a number of colorful ways, he had been captured by bounty hunters while on the lam, brought back to NYC and ordered to take a psychiatric evaluation. Today, a judge ruled that Massler is indeed unfit to stand trial, thanks to both the psychiatric evaluation as well as this statement he made in court: "The psychiatric system was corrupt. I feel that I was under some supernatural influence and that aliens could have been involved. Is there a doctor who will agree with me?" more ›

UES Woman Sentenced For Torture Murdering Boyfriend

UES Woman Sentenced For Torture Murdering Boyfriend

The Upper East Side woman who tortured and suffocated her boyfriend two years ago was sentenced yesterday to 17 years to life for the torture killing. Raquel Glenn, 55, insisted for years that voices in her head commanded her to kill handyman Chiwa (Freeman) Chan, but prosecutors told the court the real reason all along had been greed: "The (state-appointed) psychiatrist was of the opinion the defendant committed this crime, not because of any psychiatric condition, but because she was angry at her current circumstances without any money and without any prospects of getting any—and she took that anger out on Freeman," said Assistant District Attorney Michelle Kaminsky. more ›

Bed-Stuy Serpico Sues NYPD For Tossing Him In Psych Ward

Bed-Stuy Serpico Sues NYPD For Tossing Him In Psych Ward

Earlier this year, Officer Adrian Schoolcraft of Brooklyn's 81st Precinct made headlines when he accused commanding officers of massively under-reporting crime stats. Now, Schoolcraft is suing the NYPD for $50 million for trying to discredit and silence him by throwing him in a psych ward unwillingly, and subsequently suspending him for going "AWOL." And seeing as how Schoolcraft logged hundreds of hours of secret recordings of police conversations and meetings, it should come as no surprise that he has recorded evidence to back him up. more ›

Carroll Gardens "Cat Man" Evicted, Dumped and Fired

Carroll Gardens "Cat Man" Evicted, Dumped and Fired

This week a story got some ink that raised the question: can't a man just save a cat? 49-year-old Chris Muth was put in a psych ward (where they called him "cat man") for doing just that...but upon his release the NY Post reports that he lost his home, his job and his girlfriend. The Carroll Gardens condo owner told him, while hospitalized, that he was "a nice guy" but "too exciting" and had to leave the residence. He then lost a job for being away too long -- the contractor he was working for told him: "You should have shot the cat, left it there and come to work." And the cherry on top, he was dumped by a girlfriend who claims "His optimism approached delusion." WNBC has a video interview with Muth, who now says "If I had known all this was going to happen, I might have found another way to get the cat." more ›

Man Goes to Psych Ward with Cat Trapped Fever!

Man Goes to Psych Ward with Cat Trapped Fever!

The Brooklyn Paper reports on a 7-year-old cat that was trapped in a narrow shaft in a Carroll Gardens apartment building, three floors below where it was supposed to be. It took over two weeks to get it out, but that's not was garnered the story so much attention. Turns out Rumi, the cat, was just fine, but Chris Muth, the cat-sitter, landed in a mental hospital during the ordeal! His medical records were brandished with the words: “bizarre delusion [that he] was trying to ‘save’ a cat of his friend." See, to rescue the feline he had to partially rip apart not one, but two apartments -- and during the second one (the one he didn't have permission to access) he was taken away to the psych ward of Long Island College Hospital. Luckily, NYC's Animal Care and Control finally rescued Rumi, who was trapped for a total of 15 days...as for Muth, he was held for 6! Update: Muth has lost his job, his house and his girlfriend over this! more ›
