Between fake terrorist alerts and scandals big and small, this just might be the Best Best of the -ists ever. We're exhausted just thinking about it.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, visited New York City yesterday. While the showiest part of their night may have been the presentation of a Global Environmental Citizen Award to the Prince from the Harvard Medical School's Center for Health and the Global Environment, we bet the most fun was had during the couple's visit the the Harlem Children's Zone. The Harlem Children's Zone, which includes the Promise Academy and other services and programs for the community, welcomed the royals with demonstration of an after-school investment program for kids, rehearsal of a scene from "A Midsummer's Night Dream" and a basketball scrimmage.

If you see the couple at right - you know, an older British couple, possibly overdressed by wearing sashes and tiaras, and surrounded by security and a press corps - walking around New York City, your eyes aren't deceiving you. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are visiting America. Today they are in Philadelphia, but will take a private train to New York and visit the Harlem Children's Zone to see the Promise Academy and other programs. Harlem Children's Zone founder Geoffrey Canada said, "We're looking forward to talking with them about the rebirth of Harlem and our role in that, as well as discussing our agency's plans for the future."

Prince Charles and his "darling wife" Camilla wrapped up the NYC portion of their visit by having snacks with the swank at the Museum of Modern Art. Since Gothamist has been intrigued by the royals since our parents bought those commemorative "Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer wedding steins," we're unable to resist the coverage. The NY Post shows its true-to-Princess-Di colors by calling the celebrities who tried to meet the couple "silly" and offers quotes from "underwhelmed" New Yorkers; the Daily News is more objectively positive, headlining "Bowles 'em Over." The Observer gives the fashion report, aghast at Camilla's fuschia suit at Ground Zero but much happier with her evening wear ("she looked kinda hot—almost aging-Bond-girl hot"). The NY Times called their visit a "Low-Key U.S. Debut" which really means "BORING!" Gothamist guesses that the best part of their trip might be Stephen Colbert's "The Word" segment on The Colbert Report last night, as he guessed that Camilla was the Prince's "Merlin" (enter picture of Camilla with a sorcerer's hat Photoshopped on) and told the paparazzi to take better care of this wife of Chuck (oh, snap!).

The moment people who are dying for some sort of royal-related mishap have been waiting for has come: Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have arrived in New York on their first visit to the colonies. Apparently, the British idea of a memorial for the British citizens who died at the World Trade Center is some sort of engraved gong. But Camilla did look right at home in this AP photo, as she has the "something smell funny" look anyone else would have if they had to listen to George Pataki blathering on. The British press is having a field day with the American press calling their visit a "bore."

Even though it happened across the pond, Gothamist was a little obssessed with Prince Charles and Camilla's marriage yesterday because when we were wee, we remembered watching Prince Charles's first marriage. Mainly, Gothamist was watching for the fashion. We absolutely loved Philip Treacy's awesome hat and headdress - they beautiful and whimsical and the headdress especially was just a shade short of loony and somehow worked for this post-menopausal (we assume) princess.
