Facebook Shuts Down Pregnant Dancer's Account Over Photo

Cherry Currin, a member of the The Dazzle Dancers who goes by the stage-name Cherry Dazzle, has had trouble with Facebook in the past over risque photos; she's previously received warnings about a photo of herself backflipping out of the vagina of a giant female statue, and then again for an image of her breasts covered in flame-shaped pasties. But it wasn't until Cherry got pregnant that Facebook went nuclear and canceled her account!

Reports of Baby Born on L Train, Delaying Service

[UPDATE BELOW] For crying out loud, some lady had to go into labor on the subway during rush hour this morning, tying up service on the L line. This better be one cute baby. We've gotten multiple reports that the L is held up because of the delivery. One tipster tells us the woman actually delivered at the First Avenue L station, and a Twitter user reports that she gave birth between Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Bronx Cop Hits Pregnant Woman's Car, Drives Away

Bronx resident Sanija Kurtovic is eight months pregnant, and she got quite a scare the other day when her parked car was sideswiped as she was about to get out. But what's even scarier is that the vehicle that hit her was an NYPD cruiser, and the driver allegedly fled the scene. Kurtovic says that after her car was hit, she ran up to Officer Shirley Perez-Romero, who was stopped at a red light. But the cop allegedly played dumb, acting as if she didn't realize an accident had occured. Kurtovic says the officer told her she would do a U-turn and file a report, but instead Officer Perez-Romero just drove off.

December Martin is suing publishing house McGraw-Hill on sexual harassment charges, claiming she was driven out of her position as Chief Information Officer. Martin claims that when she became pregnant last year, one of her supervisors told her, "Oh, you're tired. You're not having sex. Sex gives you energy." The executive also allegedly told her she should "try a sex toy" to stave off fatigue. [NYPost]

Pooper Scooper Law Also Applies to Pregnant Teens

If you're pregnant, and your baby daddy is being deployed to Afghanistan, and besides, you were totally going to pick up your dog's poop in a minute... should you still be fined $250 for not doing so quickly enough? The Daily News reports that 19-year-old, 9-days-overdue Alicia Fernbacker of Maspeth was slapped with such a fine last week by a sanitation department agent.

Pregnant Women Find Subway Seats Hard To Come By

Last Friday, author and journalist Lynn Harris published a "Complaint Box" post on CityRoom about how hard it is for pregnant women to find seats on the subway, based on her experience during her two pregnancies and her friends' experiences. She writes that while people are very nice to offer her seats when she's taking the subway with her now-born children, she wonders, "Where were you people when I was pregnant? Oh, right. You were sitting comfortably in your seats. While I stood. In August."

If anyone did give up a seat — which, O.K., did happen, on days when there was a partial eclipse, a unicorn sighting and alternate-side parking suspended, or when I finally started asking for one — the donors appeared in this order of likelihood: (1) older woman, (2) younger woman, (3) minority man.

Pregnant Pedestrian Killed By Allegedly Drunk Driver In Midtown

Yesterday afternoon, two coworkers at an architecture firm were walking on East 37th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues when a Gristede's delivery van, driven by an apparently drunk man, jumped the curb and slammed into them on the sidewalk. A 29-year-old mother of three, who was also three months pregnant, was killed while a 37-year-old woman was seriously injured.

A Brooklyn woman's claim that she was unfairly fired from a Seventh-Day Adventist church's school for being pregnant--and unmarried--was quashed by a federal judge yesterday. Back in 2001, Jewel Redhead was fired from the Linden Seventh Adventist Church's school since she "violated one of the basic precepts" by having sex before marriage (and apparently not marrying the baby's father). While Redhead was trying to argue the school violated state and federal law for discrimination, the Post reports the judge said since Redhead was supposed to discuss religion as well in her teachings, "that made her more like a clergy member than a regular school teacher"--and therefore the church is free to fire her. Redhead, who is still single and teachers in Brooklyn, plans to appeal.

Last September three women filed a lawsuit against Mayor Bloomberg’s company, Bloomberg LP, accusing Bloomberg of being personally responsible for creating a "systemic, top-down culture of discrimination," and accusing Bloomberg LP CEO Lex Fenwick of firing two pregnant employees with this gangsta riposte: “I'm not having any pregnant bitches working for me.
