Yesterday, a 26-year-old pregnant woman was shot near a Brooklyn elementary school by her 62-year-old estranged husband. Daisy Torres, believed to be four months pregnant, was shot in the chest by Juan Torres Collazo around 2:15 p.m. Friday afternoon as she was walking toward Public School 384 on Cooper Street in Bushwick to pick up another child. Bystanders swooped in on Torres Collazo before he could fire a second shot: “I went in front of him to wrestle the gun away,” Anastacio Diaz DeLeon told the Daily News. “Me and somebody else held him until police came. He tried to run away but I told him to stop or I was going to shoot him with the gun.” more ›
