According to the MTA, all service has been restored, except to the Port Washington line which is still suspended. Trains, which were stopped because of yesterday quick, pummeling storm that hit Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island hard, started moving around 11 p.m. last night and most service was back around 5 a.m. this morning. We've added some pictures of last night's totally haywire commute—make that non-commute, since service was shutdown.

Queens Shooting: Sean Bell's Burial, an Angry Protest and a Club's Troubles
Yesterday afternoon, Sean Bell was laid to rest in Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, Long Island. Bell was killed last weekend in a barrage of police bullets outside a Queens club where he had been celebrating his bachelor party. About 200 mourners were present for the burial; Bell's fiancee and two daughters were present, and his older brother sobbed, "My baby brother!"
Dogs With Passports!
Tonight, 30 dogs from China will be arriving at JFK Airport, to be put up for adoption at the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington. Newsday reports that these dogs were in a crowded Beijing animal shelter (crowded and Beijing seem synonymous to us) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare decided to step in, saying that the Beijing shelter had "more dogs in the shelter than they can adopt out." Certain breeds of dogs are illegal for ownership in China - for instance, a dog bigger taller than 6 inches is contraband. However, PETA pointed out that the trip from China to NY isn't a "picnic" and that millions of American animals are euthanized each year. The IFAW tells Newsday they are trying to help out Chinese shelters and encourage the government to remove breed bans.
