Sure, the East River Ferry has had its issues since its launch this summer: delays annoyed commuters, Hasidic Jews were pissed about its child restrictions, and for a minute there, it looked like no one wanted to ride the thing at all. But those issues pale in comparison to the latest problem: the ferry is too damn popular.

Looks like New Yorkers just can't get enough of pretty things: the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art has been so ragingly successful (and lines so ragingly long) that the museum is extending the exhibit and adding a $50 special admission option for fashion-obsessed big spenders.
Sophia & Jayden Oust Isabella & Daniel as Top NYC Baby Names
Sophia and Jayden surpassed Isabella and Daniel to become the most popular baby names in NYC, according to the Health Department's annual report [pdf] on infant nomenclature. 872 newborn males were named Jayden (the most popular name for black and Hispanic boys) and 511 newborn females were named Sophia (the most popular name among Asians). Madison became a new favorite for girls born to black families, while Ashley was the most popular girl’s name for Hispanic families. For white babies, Daniel is #1 for boys, and Olivia for girls. And as usual, there were some novelties in the mix.
