A few days ago, we concluded, with the help of science, that yes, it is indeed the worst allergy season ever in the history of time. Today, the Times reminds us that allergies are still happening, but hidden away at the very end of their article is a tiny glimmer of hope for us snot-nosed sufferers!
An Allergy Reprieve Is On The Way!
It's The Worst Allergy Season Ever, Says Science
We cannot even begin to tell you how many boxes of Kleenex, blister packs of Claritin, and bottles of eye droplets we go through every spring to combat the evil allergies Mother Nature throws our way. It sucks. But this year, we've been swearing it sucks harder than usual, and it turns out we were right! It IS the worst allergy season ever, and now we have SCIENCE backing it up, so excuse us while we shoot pollen-induced snot into every open space within a 30-mile radius.
Sneezy Weather
The weather is behaving itself quite nicely this week. The forecast hasn't changed much at all since Monday. Clouds should build up this afternoon as a weak cold front approaches the region. Today's high will be in the lower 70s. Conditions are perfect for a sea breeze. Places right along the shore will see a sudden temperature drop once the breeze gets going this afternoon. The sea breeze may be potent enough to kick off a few showers, especially to the east of the city. A more widespread, but still slight, chance of rain occurs tonight and tomorrow when a secondary front crosses the Northeast. The two fronts are kind of wimpy so tomorrow won't be much cooler than today.
A Rainy Day to Wash Pollen Away
Ah, rain. After a two-week dry spell, punctured by a few drops over the weekend, the city is finally getting a good soaking. This comes as welcome relief for anyone suffering from tree pollen allergies. The rain is also a relief for those of us who climb the stairs in Morningside Park every day as the urine stench was getting to be a bit much.
