And that's when he started crashing into pregnant ladies.

One man was shot and killed and four people were injured late last night after a police chase that ended in an accident near 135th Street along the Major Deegan Expressway. A suspect was reportedly speeding and hitting other vehicles along the Expressway, which gave police reason to pursue him. “The police were chasing the guy and he was trying to force his way through traffic," one witness told CBS 2. The suspect eventually crashed into a sanitation truck.

A Long Island woman stopped by an officer for running a stop sign turned the afternoon into a movie-worthy car chase by leading officers down Route 231, getting cornered in a parking lot, and then using her car as a battering ram to smash through four patrol cars blocking her path. An elderly man accused of shooting up a Madison Avenue store while on an oxygen tank was killed in a car crash in Maryland yesterday. Arthur Williams, believed to be in his 70s, opened fire on the men's suit shop Sarar on July 9th before jumping into his black Cadillac and riding off. He robbed two hotels in Maryland last Sunday, and led police in a car chase before veering off the road and crashing into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Perhaps a car chase was just one of the things on his bucket list?
Pedestrians Struck In Harlem During Police Pursuit
Earlier this morning, three pedestrians were struck by a car being pursued by the police. The incident occurred at West 122nd Street and Lenox Avenue, when the car jumped the curb. The Post says the police were involved in a "high-speed chase": "Cops were chasing the man because he was believed to be in possession of a gun."

Late last night, three people died in a two-car crash on Pine Hollow Road in Oyster Bay. According to WCBS 2, some witnesses say that one of the cars was being chased by the police: "Nassau cops confirmed that three were left dead after the crash, but would not confirm a chase did take place."
Delays On Inbound GW Bridge After Fatal Crash
Earlier this morning, a motorcyclist crashed near the Route 46 approach to the George Washington Bridge and was killed. Apparently NJ police had been chasing two motorcycles from Ridgefield Park before 4 a.m. WABC reports, "The chase continued into Fort Lee, where one of the motorcycle riders lost control, possibly after hitting a vehicle, at the lower level inbound approach to the George Washington Bridge. The motorcyclist flipped off the bicycle, slamming onto the ground. The rider sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene." The other motorcyclist was injured. Because the investigation is still continuing, the inbound approach to the upper level is closed, causing delays.

One of the Zyrtec thieves accused of striking and killing Errol Morris editor Karen Schmeer has been identified. David McKie, a 25-year-old from Brooklyn, told police that he was in the getaway car that collided with the Fog of War editor on the Upper West Side Friday night, but claims he wasn't behind the wheel. The driver and one additional passenger are still at large, while McKie—who'll take the stand on Thursday—faces 25 years to life. "My son is not a murderer, and he is deeply sorry," his mother told the Daily News, through tears.

Karen Schmeer, the longtime Errol Morris editor who was hit and killed Friday night by a frenzied getaway driver, has been called “one of the greatest editors of her generation.” The industry professional, who edited "The Fog of War" and many other documentaries, was crossing W. 90th Street yesterday when she was struck down by a car fleeing from the police. Its driver and passengers had just robbed over-the-counter allergy medicine from a local CVS, and fled on foot from the scene of the accident with cops giving chase.

[UPDATE BELOW] "From shoplifting to murder. How stupid is that?" said one witness of a fatal collision between a getaway car and woman carrying groceries across West 90th Street. Three thieves had just taken packages of allergy medication from an Upper West Side drug store and were being followed by police, when they made a U-turn straight into the 39-year-old victim. Witnesses told the press that the sound of the crash was deafening, and that food items and milk covered the hood of the car.

NY1 reports that two people are in the hospital after a Brooklyn car crash last night: "Police say they saw a Toyota Corolla run a red light a little after midnight. They then followed the car, and a few seconds later, the Corolla slammed into a Lexus SUV at Lee Avenue and Rutledge Street in Williamsburg." The Post adds, "The witness said the car apparently being chased was going at least 45 miles per hour." The cops are apparently investigating whether the Corolla's driver was drinking.
Cops Fatally Shoot Robbery Suspect In Washington Heights
Last night, police shot and killed a robbery suspect who they had been following on a wild chase that also left bystanders and police officers injured. A pedestrian told police that people in a car had just robbed him—of $1,200 cash—at West 177th near the West Side Highway. Police then chased the silver Cadillac throughout Washington Heights. According to WCBS 2, "The Cadillac struck a motorcycle rider, and the motorcycle got stuck under the car and was dragged. The Cadillac reversed, trying to dislodge the motorcycle, and hit a pedestrian." The cops came on the scene, identified themselves and then fired (one of the suspects may have had a gun). One of the suspects was shot dead while the three others were taken into custody. The Daily News reports, "Investigators said no weapon was found on the dead man, but noted that the weapon might have been tossed during the chase or hidden somewhere in the car. They were awaiting a search warrant Thursday morning."
