Fake Doctor Busted for Cosmetic Injections on Staten Island

Hi everybody, who wants to look younger? Yesterday a 42-year-old Staten Island man named Eduard Belfer turned himself over to police, who accuse him of posing as a doctor while working at the appropriately-named "Staten Island Pain Associates." Last month the state Education Department received a tip that Belfer was performing cosmetic treatments there without a medical license, so they set up a sting and busted him offering to inject an undercover investigator with Ristalin, which is similar to Botox.

Amateur Plastic Surgery Kills Bronx Mom

After a prolonged autopsy, a Bronx medical examiner has concluded that the death of a 43-year-old mother of two was a homicide, the result of botched plastic surgery. On March 17th, Siordaliza Pichardo checked herself a Bronx hospital, complaining of dizziness and difficulty breathing; she later went into cardiac arrest and expired during the night. One day earlier, Pichardo had received silicone injections from a friend of hers who, according to investigators, is a "nonmedical, unlicensed person." After extensive tests, the ME determined the cause of death to be "silicone pulmonary embolism," and found that Pichardo had silicone clotting in her lungs. Her 21-year-old son Kelvin Rodriguez tells Newsday that his mother had gotten the silicon injections because she wanted to add shape to her thighs and buttocks; he says he was "strongly opposed that my mom was doing this because she didn't need it."

The Brooklyn Paper takes an awkwardly close look at Miss New York's "most recognizable assets," and declares, "They're spectacular — and they're real." 22-year-old Leigh-Taylor Smith won the title of Miss Brooklyn, somewhat controversially, before donning the Miss New York crown. She'll be competing for the Miss America title in January, but before that happens she cleared up any rumors that she had been surgically enhanced. One Brooklyn Paper reader said he still had his doubts, and that "they're too perfect. If she told me she could fly, I would believe her [more]." Another passerby during a recent photoshoot observed and decided "they're fake." On a less creepy note, the Paper also reports that "Smith will participate in an eight-episode reality show with the 51 other Miss America contestants" -- where anyone with basic cable can pass judgment. For now, here's a photo of her strutting down the runway in a two-piece.

Last week, Lara Flynn Boyle guest starred on Law & Order, playing an unscrupulous reporter looking for answers in a case that involved dog-fighting, wine fraud, and divorce. Except it's unclear whether many viewers realized it was her, because of her apparent plastic surgery.
