Nathan's better get their beef remnants and buns ready, because Takeru 'Tsunami' Kobayashi is coming to the shores of Coney Island. At least that's what Kobayashi's manager says. If you've been following along, you know that Kobayashi, the reigning champion and six time Mustard Belt winner of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, has experienced some hiccups in his training for the July 4th competition. After one week of training, he developed jaw arthritis. Ever the competitor, Kobayashi said that he would come to honor his mother, who passed away in March.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Restaurant Inspection division is on a tear. The DOH shut down three Pizza Hut restaurants owned by the franschisee who owns the rat-infested KFC-Taco Bell in Greenwich Village, the restaurant that launched a thousand shocked giggles and a million more eeewww's. And maybe there were a couple, "Oh, the rats look cute. Behind the glass." Franchisee ADF has eight restaurants in NYC that were allowed to remain open; the company claims it is reviewing its maintaintence procedures.

I saw Zach Galifianakis(Comedy Central Presents, Comedians of Comedy, Dog Bites Man) at the UCB theater a few months ago and he was going some crowd work. Some lady said something, I don't remember what, but Zach's response was, "Don't get me farted." From that, you can gather two things: Zach Galifianakis is a comedic genius and you should definitely see him at Irving Plaza on the 24th of February.

Though New York pizza purists may scorn the chewy crust, the franchising, and that the flavors include "Hawaiian," "Greek," and "Bar-B-Cue Chicken," Singas Pizza, a 40-year old New York pizza chain with Greek origins in Elmhurst, Queens, offers a tasty product at wallet-friendly prices. Pizzas are cooked in shallow cast-iron pans, creating an oddly nostalgic Pizza Hut-like aroma, and depending on the Singas you visit, it's either take-out, sit-down, or table-service.

With less than a month until the Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden, the editors of Slice (Gothamist's favorite pizza site) have released GOPizza.net for the thousands of people in town for the convention. No news on whether there will be an Counter Convention pizza site from Slice. Now on the site, those hailing from the nether-regions of the country can learn how to order pizza in New York - it's a slice, stupid - and learn how to hold your pizza.

Even though it's just a fleeting glimpse of a trenchcoat, be assured, it's Richard Belzer, a.k.a. Detective John Munch from Law & Order: Special Victims' Unit and Homicide: Life on the Streets, the most brilliant cop show of the 1990s (L&O is a cop and lawyer show) – you can take your NYPD Blue and shove it. This photograph of Mr. Belzer was taken by Adam, who tells us the actor–comedian had been at Coliseum Books in midtown.
