Pink Panther Goes From Burger King to Wall Street

In his publicity blitz to promote The Pink Panther 2, the Pink Panther has been spotted around town. And he definitely ran the gamut of photo ops: Early in the day, he helped out at a Burger King (there's a Pink Panther tie-in planned)...and then he rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange!

Eric Slovin and Leo Allen have been called modern comedy's greatest comedic duo since Abbot and Costello or Laurel and Hardy. Together they've earned accolades, devoted fans, a television pilot, and written for Saturday Night Live, all without ever compromising their comedic sensibility.

Remakes and sequels and genre formula, oh my! February is a great month for releasing exactly what the studios think the people will pay to see and this week's release schedule is a textbook example of this development by marketing focus group strategy. Oh well, doesn't mean Gothamist is ready to give up on moviegoing quite yet. Here's a few suggestions to guide your weekend viewing.

At 11PM, the elephants in Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus will be walking through the Midtown Tunnel to Madison Square Garden. Now, we know that elephants are sturdy creatures, but how are they going to fare in the snow? Surely this isn't the first year elephants have needed to traipse through snow to get to Madison Square Garden, but this is the first time Gothamist is thinking about it. Luckily, it seems like they will be okay, as long as they are dried off inside. Director Michel Gondry incoporated the elephant walk into Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (picture above); see it in the trailers. Henry Mancini composed a little ditty, "Baby Elephant Walk," for The Pink Panther.
