Yesterday, International Pillow Fight Day held their New York fight in Union Square, and from the looks of it there were a lot of feathers to clean up. Hundreds of people showed up sporting pajamas, costumes and pillows (or makeshift pillows) for some lighthearted fun, all protected by a police blockade and a group of gawking passersby.

The beginning of April is always jam-packed with exciting events and occasions. LCD Soundsystem are playing their final shows this week, the MLB season starts for the Yankees on Thursday, and April Fools Day is Friday (is it really a coincidence that the Mets first game is the same day?). But of course, the most important event of the week will happen on Saturday.
Pillow Fight Was Under Surveillance
Earlier this month thousands converged at Union Square for a massive pillow fight, but now the Daily News is taking a look at what was happening behind the scenes before the feathers flew. Reportedly the NYPD assigned plainclothes and uniformed officers from the Intelligence Division to conduct surveillance, something some officers deemed a waste of time because it "was just about a bunch of high school kids goofing off."

Today marks the 5th Annual Pillow Fight... and why not spend this beautiful afternoon pummeling strangers with your pillow? The organizers at Newmindspace say, "Teddies fly and pillows soar as we gather for a massive urban pillow fight in Union Square. Swing and whack as you evade pillow-wielding assailants. Dress in pajamas and clean up your mess afterward." Also of note: don't ruin the fun by packing your pillow with anything hard, and try to swing lightly. In other words: play nice!
Feathers Fly at the Annual Pillow Fight
Wall Street hasn't been a fun place as of late, even the Panda residing there is sad, so the NewMindSpace crew brought their annual Pillow Fight to the Financial District today. Feathers flew, George Washington looked on, and even the cops seemed to enjoy it.
