Cab Fare Pepper Sprays Driver

Suffolk County police arrested a woman for pepper spraying a cab driver who had driven her from Manhattan to Melville, Long Island. According to 1010 WINS, "Amina Williams, 22-year-old woman from Redwood City, Calif. arranged for the cabbie, Alexandre Oseimensuo of New Jersey, to drive her from Manhattan to Melville, Long Island" and "agreed on a fare of $150." However, once in Melville, she only offered $80—but Oseimensuo wanted the full fare. Then Williams allegedly sprayed him with pepper spray. She was charged with assault and unlawful possession of noxious material.

Pepper Spray Attack At Bronx High School

NY1 reports 12 students were hospitalized "after a pepper spray fight erupted in the school cafeteria." The East Fordham Road building, which houses a number of schools, was evacuated in an apparently confusing manner. Students said, "If it was a real emergency, if it was a fire, we probably would have been the last ones to get out," and "Most people were pushing. It was scary. And they didn't really organize it when we were outside, because some people were saying to either go home or stay in."

Video: New School Fallout Sees NYPD Release Its Arrest Tape

After the dust cleared in yesterday's New School building occupation and police confrontation that resulted in 22 arrests, demonstrations continued into the night Friday with around 200 protesters marching south from Union Square towards President Bob Kerrey's house before being blocked off by police officers at 11th Street.

A Queens woman who says a police officer used excessive force when he pepper sprayed her in the face during an arrest is suing the city for $3 million. According to the Daily News, Naeema Screven was rushing to catch the A train at the Broadway station in Brooklyn when she ducked under the yellow tape that divided the staircase into "up" and "down." That's a no-no. When she reached the bottom, she was stopped by Officer Elix Hernandez and asked to show identification.

It was the trifecta when the FDNY responded to three different schools where pepper spray had been released. NY1 has the rundown: The first was at A. Philiip Randolph Campus High School in Harlem. It's unclear what the circumstances were, but one student was taken to a hospital with chest pains while 16 others had burning eyes and itchy throats. The second was at a Chelsea high school, where a "14-year-old sprayed pepper spray in the cafeteria"; five students were taken to the hospital for treatment and the 14-year-old was arrested. The final one was at St. Francis Prep in Queens, where a "student claimed it fell out of her purse and discharged." She was taken into custody as 11 people were taken to hospitals.
