So far we've found nothing funny about the month of January, hopefully things will change starting this week. Check out our comedy picks:

The New York Times has a nice spotlight piece about Paul Ford today. We've been big fans of Paul's work at FTrain for years-- and he was nice enough to sit for one of our first interviews:

It looks like the MTA is doing what matters: The NY Post reports that the MTA is busting a Brooklyn bagelry, F Line Bagels in Carroll Gardens, for mentioning the subway in its name and in its store's decorations. Apparently an MTA lawyer went into their store to let them know that the MTA wants the Smith Street store cease-and-desist with its various subway memorabilia, not to mention the store's name, or pay the MTA a licensing fee. The owner, Farid Assad, said he decorated the store with signs and pole he found on the MTA website, saying, "If they don't want people to use this stuff, then why make it available for anyone to buy? We bought the stuff on the MTA Web site, so we assumed it would be OK to use it." Mister, the MTA is not supposed to make sense, okay? Just because the MTA is trashing their stuff doesn't mean it's supposed to be enjoyed by mom-and-pop businesses. Of course, Gothamist hasn't visited F Line Bagels, so if anyone has, let us know; we'd understand that the MTA would be upset if the store's bagels absolutely sucked.

There will be more amazing people to get to know through the YMI in upcoming months, seasons, years, but Gothamist asked Krucoff, "Andrew Krucoff, if you were going to give us eleven important moments in the history of Andrew Krucoff's Young Manhattanite Interview, what would they be?" In turn, he emailed back "11 Interview Moments by Andrew Krucoff" (in chronological order):

Gothamist also would like to thank: Jason Calacanis, Nick Denton, and Jeff Jarvis for a spirited (though less punchy than wished for, to be honest) discussion about the future of publishing blogs; Anil Dash, Paul Ford, and Meg Hourihan for enlightening us about what goes into designing blog publishing tools (less nerdy than it sounds, for those who missed it); and Felix Salmon, Lockhart Steele, and Choire Sicha ( and Jen) for being good punchlines. Yay!

Various personalities of the blogging world will collide at the NY Bloggers talk at the SoHo Apple Store this Monday, May 3. See Buzzmachine's Jeff Jarvis moderate/referee a discussion with web publishers Nick Denton and Jason Calacanis. ftrain's Paul Ford chats with Meg Hourihan, Anil Dash, and Jason Kottke about technology. And Felix Salmon will find out what kinds of medication Choire Sicha, Lockhart Steele, and Jen Chung must be on during the editors panel. Plus, Jake will be running around as the water boy. We can also promise question-and-answer time as well as some surprises. All in all, a great opportunity to see the bloggers you love (to hate?). Be there to be square.

Check out Paul Ford's NPR voice on the Young Manhattanite Interview from Gothamist. And the week in full.

For a few frenzied moments, the streets of Brooklyn turn into a war zone...of condiments. Paul Ford of FTrain.com experiences the Condiment War. He also posts pictures that show the devastation (and some disbelieving cops, Gothamist imagines). [Via kottke]
