On the heels of a report that One World Trade Center is now the world's most expensive building, costing an estimated $3.8 billion, the Post now says a delay with the skyscraper's underground loading dock "can’t be finished in time for [Conde Nast] and other tenants to use the planned 13 cargo bays to move in equipment to build out their space... As a result, the PA is scrambling to construct a temporary, above-ground loading dock with just five bays. The unexpected change in plans will add 'tens of millions' of dollars to the cost of building 1 WTC, sources said." And the temporary PATH station is at fault!

Jersey Man Says Screw It And Walks Home Through PATH Tunnel
Most of us at one time or another have gazed longingly down a dark subway tunnel during an interminable wait and thought, "I'd probably get there faster if I just walked it." In the other trespassing-transit-tunnels scare, a Bayonne, New Jersey man decided to do just that yesterday, and strolled from the World Trade Center PATH station to Jersey City. The Post reports that Reymundo Rodriguez, 20, went the entire two miles without getting killed or noticed, until a Port Authority contractor spotted him exiting around 3 a.m. and called the cops. Asked by the contractor what he was doing, Rodriguez replied, "The train never came... so I decided to walk." But when the cops caught up with him, they say he inexplicably told them, "I just put a bomb down on the tracks."
De-Escalated Situation At WTC PATH Station
Dan Dickinson Tweeted this photo just before 9 a.m., "What happens when there's only one working up escalator at PATH WTC during rush hour." And, as it happens, according to the PATH's Twitter, "Management staff will be at WTC Station today from 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM to answer your service questions."
Emergency Drill At PATH Station This Sunday
You're warned: This Sunday, the Office of Emergency Management is overseeing a drill that will, according to the AP, "simulate a response to an explosion at a PATH commuter rail train in the tunnel between the World Trade Center site and northern New Jersey. Officials say there will be no sound of an explosion, but emergency vehicles will respond with flashing lights and sirens." First responders from the NYPD, FDNY, and Port Authority will be on hand for the exercise; Vesey Street, on the north side of ground zero, will be closed to all but emergency vehicles and PATH rail service will be suspended from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
OEM, Port Authority Conducting PATH Station Drill Today
Don't fret if you see a large scene of police, fire department and EMTs between Chambers and Vesey Streets today. The city's Office of Emergency Management and Port Authority are practicing the city's response to a "simulated emergency." According to the alert, "People south of Chambers Street to Vesey Street may see first responders, but the effect on traffic should be minimal. World Trade Center PATH Station will remain open."
