At the end of February, a petite 25-year-old Bronx woman named Lana Rosa had an altercation with Queens electrician Oscar Fuller over a coveted parking spot on East 14th Street. Rosa had been standing in the space to hold it for her boyfriend when Fuller tried to park there. A heated argument ensued, ending when Fuller allegedly punched Rosa and she fell backward, hitting her head and going into a coma. Over a month later, she has finally regained consciousness. Building Doormen Call "Dibs" On Parking Spaces

Last week, a Queens restaurant's workers were spotted illegally using public parking spaces on the street for the restaurant's valet parking. Now the NY Times sent a reporter to try to park her car in front of fancy apartment buildings, where doormen try to leave spots open so residents can get out of cabs or their own cars easily. Outside of a Fifth Avenue building, she was told by one doorman, "We have about 160 apartments, and you are inconveniencing them, and we have a lot of elderly people... Parking Space Stand-Off Ends with Broken Foot, Lawsuit

A sushi chef who tried to "hold" a parking space for his manager by standing in the street ended up with a broken foot and other injuries after an irate driver tried to claim the space. Ke Hai Du says it all started around 5 p.m. on October 9th, when he noticed the space become available in front of the Peck Slip restaurant Suteishi. He dashed outside to save the space while his manager got her car, but before she arrived driver Paul Todd pulled up with plans of his own. more ›
