Yesterday, hundreds of thousands of people lined Fifth Avenue to watch the 249th St. Patrick's Day Parade. Irish singer Emma Kate Tobia told NY1 "I feel more Irish here than I would at home. You really feel proud to be Irish in New York on St. Patrick's Day. It's an exciting, exciting place to be."

Map Of The Day: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, New Route
This year will be the first year the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade doesn't head down Broadway for its Herald Square finale outside Macy's. Instead, the procession of balloons, floats and performers will head down Seventh and Sixth Avenues, partially due to the new pedestrian plazas in Times Square and partially because 7th and 6th Avenues are wider (in 2005, some parade watchers were struck by M&M balloons!).
Thankgiving Day Parade Moves To 6th, 7th Aves This Year
After rumors and review, the city officially announced that the Thanksgiving Day Parade will no longer go down Broadway below 59th Street but will head down 7th Avenue and then 6th Avenue before hitting Herald Square. Mayor Bloomberg said, "With more space available, the new route will be better for parade watchers, who come from New York and from all over the world, and better for the businesses that benefit from the activity generated by the parade. We expect this year's parade to be bigger and better than ever before."
