Yesterday afternoon, a 73-year-old man driving a Lexus SUV struck a woman who was pushing her 6-month-old son in a stroller on Broadway near 37th Street in Astoria, Queens. The Daily News reports that the vehicle "shot down the sidewalk like a pinball... It blazed a trail of destruction for about half a block before it mowed the woman down from behind - sending her son and the stroller hurtling through the air." Amazingly, the boy did not appear to be hurt when he landed. The mother, who was rescued from beneath the car, is expected to survive. The driver allegedly told the cops his brakes failed and wasn't charged or given a summons; a police source said, "It's just an accident."

Driver Hits Two Children Playing In Queens Yard
A four-year-old girl is in critical condition after a driver apparently lost control of his car, driving into her Springfield Gardens home's front yard and striking her and her 11-year-old brother. Aicha Sylla was pinned between the car and house, and the Daily News reports that her father tried to attack the driver; a witness said, "It was horrible, really horrible. Everybody was crying. The father was going crazy." The driver was arrested—but not for driving his car into the yard and hitting two kids.
Fisherman Saves Three From Sinking Car In Sheepshead Bay
Last night, a woman trying to park her car somehow ended jumping a curb and sending her car—which also carried her two teen daughters—through a railing, off the pier and into Sheepshead Bay. Luckily, a fisherman and some others heard their cries and jumped into the water to save them. Keith Gorman, a deckhand at the Sea Queen 7, told the Daily News, "I heard a car smash. I ran through the crowd and I realized that a car went on the sidewalk and into the water... I took my boots off and my jacket and jumped over the rail and into the water."

14 Injured After SUV Crashes into Hanukkah Party
A 76-year-old man driving an SUV crashed the vehicle into a building where a children's Hanukkah party was being held. The accident took place on Long Island, in Woodmere, around 2:45 p.m. yesterday. Fourteen people were injured, a dozen of them children. Two children are in critical but stable condition at Nassau University Hospital.
Car Vs. People: Pedestrians Injured by Out-of-Control Car
An elderly woman lost control of her car at 78th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Dyker Heights this morning. The vehicle jumped a curb and hit a number of pedestrians. The victims were taken to Lutheran hospital, two victims have non-life threatening injuries while two others are in serious condition. 1010 WINS adds that there was an 8-year-old child in the car. In another incident in Brooklyn, a 91-year-old woman was killed by a n 18-wheeler while she was trying to cross an intersection.
Car Wash Worker Drives into Co-Workers With SUV, 1 Dead
A Queens car wash was the scene of a fatal incident that left one employee dead. Two workers who had been drying a vehicle were hit by another worker who drove into them with an SUV.
Courthouse Crash Driver Had Suspended License
Police have charged the driver who mowed down pedestrians outside the State Supreme Court with "reckless endangerment and aggravated unlicensed operation, for having a suspended license." Though 33-year-old Queens resident Lorenzo Bello had a seizure during yesterday's morning crash, it wasn't his first. Per the Daily News, "His wife told cops he has a history of seizures and shouldn't be behind the wheel."

An out-of-control car jumped a curb on Centre Street and mowed down three pedestrians outside the State Supreme Court. According to NY1, the car "crashed into a coffee cart and continued up several steps of the courthouse," where one man was pinned under the car.
