Fellas, if you’re in some sort of relationship and haven’t nailed down the V-Day itinerary yet, it’s about time to start making some quick decisions and, regrettably, commitments. Reservations fill up fast and no matter what she says about ‘not expecting anything special’, we all know that’s a big trap. But it doesn’t mean you have to submit to an overpriced prix fixe dinner at a stuffy, overcrowded restaurant; here are some less predictable ways to impress your date this Love Day. (We suggest starting now by ordering one of these fine Law & Order SVU Valentine's cards.)

In anticipation of tomorrow night's Law & Order episode about a the meltdown of a Mel Gibson-esque celebrity (Chevy Chase says sugartits!), we present you the video of chirpy Elisabeth Hasselback's complaint about a Law & Order SVU episode, via Best Week Ever. In the episode, a character named Elizabeth Hassenback was raped twice and murdered. So Elisabeth took time to call the executive producer of L&O SVU Neal Baer and relayed the conversation on The View. We liked this exchange:

Joy: Could it have been a coincidence?

+ Elisabeth Hasselbeck is annoyed at Law & Order SVU producers for having a character named "Elizabeth Hasselback" get raped and murdered on last week's show - doesn't she read the "this story is fictional and is not based on actual events or people" thing?

as Law & Order SVU used to be on then (and we remember the good ol' Fridays when The X-Files was on at 9PM and then Homicide was on at 10PM). And maybe Govich's ADA character, Jessica "From the wrong side of the tracks" [the elevated train tracks?] Rossi, won't be that lucky - the lady ADA's have a mysterious way of leaving every so often.

Sure, there are TiVos. And VCRs (we think). But since Gothamist missed Chris Rock live, we might just have to stay home and watch Never Scared on HBO tomorrow night at 10PM. It follows a showing of Head of State, which we did see (on a plane). There's Bernie Mac, Stephanie March (aka ADA Alexandra Cabot of Law & Order SVU), and Robin Givens - what more could you want in a Saturday night?

- We're enjoying Central Valley Large Animal Clinic, which covers various NY art goings-on, like the Armory Show, which started yesterday, and upcoming film programs. No mention of large animals, though. Yet.
- whatisee has a movie of Cirque du Soleil's performance at Grand Central. whatisee's report with pictures also notes that Law & Order SVU Medical Examiner portrayer, Tamara Tunie, was on hand to give an intro (and to flub it, apparently). Gothamist has loved Tamara ever since she played Jessica Griffin, the lone black character on As the World Turns, who married Duncan, McKechnie, the Scots millionaire, and had to deal with Lauryn Hill crushing on Duncan. Cirque du Soleil's Allegria will be performed at Randalls Island this May.

In the television category, kudos to our favorite cops and lawyers for getting an ensemble acting nomination. Also, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order SVU was nominated for lead actress in a drama. And while snubbed for a Golden Globe, our friend Justin Kirk was nominated for best actor in a TV movie for his amazing work in Angels America; Al Pacino, Jeffrey Wright, Meryl Streep, Mary-Louise Parker, and Emma Thompson were also nominated for their roles in Angels. To bring it full circle, Ben Shenkman, who also starred in Angels, played the defendant's lawyer on Law & Order last night.

A few upcoming Gothamist related things to check out. Plus the week in full.

When two Long Island girls found out they were dating the same guy, they trashed his car AND beat him up. Wow, they make them tough in Long Island. The Post coverage is awesome, with tidbits like "'She was acting too sweet. I knew she was up to something,'" and "...a small army of pouty teen girls" were waiting for the double-crosser. Newsday now tells one of the girls is filing rape charges. Law & Order SVU, anyone?

Former girlfriend Trish Bergin, Billy Joel, and his daughter Alexa RayPage Six grossed me out by mentioning how Billy Joel is dating a young woman who looks a lot like his daughter. I'm probably illin' from that because I watched a rerun of this bizarre episode of Law & Order SVU that involved child pornography, pedophilia, and sending Detective Stabler to Prague to about 15 minutes. Anyway, Alexa Ray Joel is a pretty young woman and probably looks like most other young women these days - blond, skinny, cute - so it doesn't seem that bad, except for the whole Billy Joel dating much younger women thing, which is par for the course if you're rich and famous. So thanks Page Six for continuing to be rabble rousing, occasional stomach turning, scoopers.
