ART: Artist Adrienne Leban (artwork pictured) has been a professor at the School of Visual Arts for almost four decades; her new work is done entirely free-hand, without sketches or instruments, in India ink on wood, watercolor paper, or canvas. (It’s terrific; check it out.) This weekend’s three-day exhibit inaugurates the new Corey Gallery; part of the proceeds will benefit the Susan G. ART: Running through March 7th at Gavin Brown's enterprise at Passerby is "Radical Living Papers". Some of the passionate writers of forty years ago will have their words become a part of this exhibit, which serves as a snapshot of the Vietnam War era and a history of counter-culture and alt press. Publications (all from the 60s and 70s) include Rolling Stone, The Black Panther, Freep, The Seed and the Los Angeles Free Press.

MOVIES: DUMBO's weekly evening film event, Movies with a View, begins tonight with The Wizard of Oz. Bring your iPod and play "Dark Side of the Moon" while the movie plays, it'll, like, totally synch up if you press play during the 3rd lion roar.

ART: Tonight Dreamland: Coney Island 1905-1925 opens. The exhibit is opened through August 19th and features "original drawings, blueprints, and vintage photographs of New York City’s favorite amusement park, Coney Island."

Tonight is the opening reception of She Draws Comics at MoCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art). The exhibit will celebrate a century of women cartoonists, the opening reception features curator Trina Robbins.

THEATER (sort of): Point Break LIVE! We're not kidding. The unecessary, but totally appreciated, absurdist stage adaptation of the 1992 Keanu Reeves blockbuster, hits Galapagos for a month. The show has become an instant cult classic across the nation, and start practicing your Keanu-isms, because the starring role will be selected at random from the audience each night, and will read their entire script off of cue-cards!

PARTY: First Fridays at the Guggenheim is ending it's run tonight. The Fridays have been curated by Flavorpill and tonight's bash will be set to the tune of a deejay set by Diplo. Music, cocktails and art on a Friday night - life could be worse. You can also explore RUSSIA!, not the country, the exhibition of over 275 masterpieces.

This kind of weather makes us want to do one thing, and one thing only: walk through the snow filled streets with a hot chocolate in one hand and John Cusack in the other. Mmm...serendipitous. Reality, however, will leave us with wet jean cuffs as we trudge through dirty (and oft yellow) snow. But at least we'll be on the way to something fun.
